Position/Project Overview:ย 

Project Solutions Inc. isย seekingย highly motivatedย Construction Inspectorsย toย perform project engineering field inspection work and project engineering technical support dutiesย toย a variety ofย civilย construction projectsย with a primary focus onย the Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD)ย ofย theย Federal Highways Administrationย (FHWA).ย ย The ideal candidate will bringย technicalย skillsย relating toย direct knowledge and basic understanding ofย highway construction practices, methods,ย materials, and equipment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute toย otherย impactful projects,ย includingย assistingย withย otherย federal agencies such as theย Departments of the Interior andย Agriculture.ย 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides inspection servicesย in accordance withย federalย agency handbooks and standardsย 
  • Inspect work performed by the Construction Contractorย to verify conformityย contract requirements, notifiesย appropriateย authorityย when work is not in complianceย with contract requirements, andย recommends correction or replacement of non-complying workย 
  • Identifiesย plan errorsย and recommends necessary changesย 
  • Recommends suspension of work that is not being performed in complianceย with the contractย 
  • Notifies authorityย of safety deficienciesย 
  • Plans and coordinates inspectionsย 
  • Verifies that workmanship, materials, and equipmentย installed meets or exceeds contract plans and specificationsย 
  • Monitors work methods for compliance withย general and environmental permitsย 
  • Monitorsย conformity with approved traffic control plansย 
  • Monitors CQC operationsย ย 

Required Education and Experience:

Constructionย Inspectorย III (CI-III):ย Salary Range:ย  $104,000 to $121,000ย DOEย 

  • Education/Certifications/Experience:ย 
  • Licensed Professional Engineer inย Construction Engineering; OR Bachelor of Scienceย in Civilย Engineering; OR Bachelor of Science in Construction Management; ANDย 
  • 3 years of on-site project administration; ORย 
  • 5ย years ofย progressively responsible experience in highway/bridge construction projects INCLUDING at leastย three (3)ย years as a Project or Resident Engineer onย state or federal highway/bridge construction or equivalent highway projects; ORย 
  • Current NICET Certificate โ€“ Level III (Construction) AND anย Associateโ€™s Degree in Engineering Technologyย AND seven (7) years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience, of which at least five (5) years must have been on highway or bridge construction projects as assistant to the project supervisor or as a principal inspector; ORย 
  • Ten (10)ย yearsย increasingly responsible experience as an inspector, project engineer or equivalent on city, county, state or Federal highway construction, AND the specificย experience asย identifiedย in the Task Order for construction inspection services.ย 
Constructionย Inspectorย II (CI-II): Salary Range:ย  $90,000 to $107,000ย DOEย 
  • Education/Certifications/Experience:ย 
  • Current NICET Certificate โ€“ Level III (Construction) AND at least 5 years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience of which at least 3 years must have been on highway or bridge construction as assistant to the project supervisor or as a principal inspector; ORย 
  • Anย Associateโ€™s Degree in Engineering Technologyย AND at least 5 years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience, of which at least 3 years must have been on highway or bridge construction projects as assistant to the project supervisor or as a principal inspector; ORย ย 
  • Seven (7)ย yearsย increasingly responsible experience as an inspector, project engineer or equivalent on city, county, state or Federal highway construction, AND the specificย experience asย identifiedย in the Task Order for construction inspection services.ย 

Construction Inspector I (CI-I):ย Salary Range:ย  $75,000 to $95,000ย DOE

  • Education/Certifications/Experience:ย 
  • Current NICET Certificate โ€“ Level III (Construction) AND at least 3 years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience of which at least 2 years must have been on highway or bridge construction as assistant to the project supervisor or as a principal inspector; ORย ย 
  • Anย Associateโ€™s Degree in Engineering Technologyย AND at least 3 years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience, of which at least 2 years mu have been on highway or bridge construction projects as assistant to the project supervisor or as a principal inspector;ย ORย ย 
  • Five (5)ย yearsย increasingly responsible experience as an inspector, project engineer or equivalent on city, county, state or Federal highway construction, AND the specificย experience asย identifiedย in the Task Order for construction inspection services.ย 

Skills & Competencies:ย 

  • Ability to withstand and be exposed to varying weather and terrain conditionsย 
  • Available for varied duty shifts and for off-duty emergencies, particularly throughout periods when the Construction Contractor is working multiple shiftsย ย 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writingย ย 
  • Experience interacting and communicating with partner agencies, the public, landowners, construction contractors, and other stakeholdersย 
  • Proficient in standard computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, database input, electronic and internet-based file management softwareย 
  • Familiarity working with construction specificationsย 
  • Direct knowledge and basic understanding of the (MUTCD), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, ADA Standards forย Accessible Design and AASHTO Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testingย 
  • Highway construction practices, methods, techniques, costs, materials, and equipmentย 
  • Sampling and testing procedures and methods of acceptance, including statistical analysis, of highway/bridge construction soils, materials, and productsย 
  • Knowledge of the required documentation for compliance with sampling and testingย 
  • Measurement/documentation of work completed daily andย maintainingย accurateย and complete project records within prescribed guidelinesย 
  • Pavingย project inspection forย 12,000 tons of asphalt pavement placementย 
  • Survey experienceย performing basic measurement using a hand level, rod, and tape;ย basic construction and slope staking;ย operatingย an automatic levelย 
  • Other experiences may include:ย 
  • Asphalt pavement construction including hot plant inspection;ย ย 
  • Bridge construction including Portland cement batch plant inspection;ย ย 
  • Construction staking; Construction traffic control;ย ย 
  • Drainage structures (ditches,ย culverts,ย inlets);ย ย ย 
  • Erosion control, landscaping,ย mulchingย and seeding;ย ย 
  • Highway earthwork and grading; Highway materials testing;ย ย 
  • Miscellaneous highway construction features;ย ย 
  • Pavement striping;ย ย 
  • Post tensioned concrete construction;ย ย 
  • Recycled asphalt construction (milling and grinding);ย ย 
  • Structural concrete and steel construction;ย ย 
  • Subgrade and base course construction;ย ย 
  • Tunnel grouting and rock bolting;ย ย 
  • Wetlands mitigation and replacement;ย Retainingย walls;ย ย ย 
  • Pavement preservation (chip seals, slurry seals, etc.);ย ย 
  • Underground utilities;ย andย  Sanitaryย sewer systems.ย
