Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, performs professional and technical project scheduling work in the development and documentation of utility construction projects and power plant outages.  Work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment and initiative in developing and maintaining control of all scheduling functions.  Solves complex problems within established parameters and identifies and recommends responses to new and unusual circumstances.  Regular contact with other utility companies, management and various department representatives at all organizational levels is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts and information.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Develops and implements scheduling procedures for construction projects and power plant outages.
  • Leads teams assigned to utility construction projects and power plant outages.
  • Provides integrated planning, scheduling, and cost control information so managers can plan and implement activities relating to construction projects and power plant outages. 
  • Prepares complex technical project schedules and cash flows.
  • Develops project networks with planned activities, relationships and durations.
  • Determines the impacts of re-sequencing work.
  • Prepares complex reports, defines contractor's contract requirements for scheduling, and identifies potential events which could significantly affect the project schedule.
  • Works with others to make decisions about the details of complex work activities and how the details affect the overall project schedule.
  • Studies and evaluates complex project proposal documents and specific work orders and determines the scope of the technical and construction work requirements.
  • Develops and utilizes a critical path method (CPM) to determine the correct sequence for flow of work activity and modifies the CPM.
  • Determines required resources, materials, and equipment needed for future scheduling activities are included in the project budget.
  • Conducts reviews to identify areas of savings in the use of personnel and materials.
  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
  • Performs other job-related work as assigned.
OPEN REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Construction Technology, Business Administration or a related field.

Must have five (5) years responsible experience in project scheduling for a major utility or an engineering consulting firm.

More than five (5) years responsible experience as specified above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required four years of college training. 

*Note:  The probationary period for this class is one (1) year.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: A valid driver's license is required prior to employment and must be maintained during employment in this classification.

The minimum salary for this position is $95,888.00 annually. Compensation will be determined based on education, licenses, certifications, skills, experience, and alignment with salaries for similar roles within the organization.
