    Why Sony Interactive Entertainment?
Sony Interactive Entertainment isn't just the Best Place to Play - it's also the Best Place to Work. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the company behind the PlayStation brand. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we're part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.
    Principal Engineer, Developer Experience (DevEx)
    Location: Hybrid / Remote Eligible
    Why PlayStation
At PlayStation, we build the platforms and services behind some of the world's most iconic entertainment experiences.
As our engineering organization grows, Developer Experience (DevEx) has become a strategic focus. We are investing in a unified, intelligent, and opinionated engineering ecosystem that enables teams to move faster, build with confidence, and focus on creating value.
This role helps shape how engineering is done across PlayStation.
    The Role
We are looking for a Principal Engineer to lead Developer Experience (DevEx) at scale.
In this role, you will treat developer experience as a product-driving platform adoption, reducing friction across the software development lifecycle, and delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and reliability.
You will work across organizations, partnering with senior engineering leaders to influence standards, platforms, and long-term technical direction.
    What You'll Do
    • Define and drive the DevEx strategy across PlayStation.
    • Own developer experience as a product, with clear roadmaps and success metrics.
    • Identify and eliminate friction across the software development lifecycle.
    • Drive platform-first adoption of CI/CD, testing, and lifecycle automation.
    • Define and promote golden paths for building, deploying, and operating services.
    • Lead the evolution of lifecycle automation platforms.
    • Reduce tooling fragmentation through consolidation and strong defaults.
    • Influence engineering practices to improve delivery speed, quality, and reliability.
    • Partner with senior leaders to align DevEx investments with business priorities.
    • Represent DevEx strategy in senior technical and leadership forums.
    What We're Looking For
    • Experience leading large-scale platform, infrastructure, or developer productivity initiatives.
    • Ability to influence engineering practices across multiple teams or organizations.
    • Strong understanding of CI/CD, testing, deployment, and service operations.
    • Experience balancing standardization with developer autonomy.
    • Proven ability to translate technical strategy into measurable outcomes.
    • Clear and effective communication skills.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    Nice to Have
    • Experience building internal platforms as products.
    • Familiarity with developer portals (e.g., Backstage).
    • Experience with application lifecycle management or automation at scale.
    • Exposure to AI-assisted engineering or automation workflows.
    • Passion for improving developer experience and engineering excellence.
    Why You'll Love This Role
    • Shape how engineering is done at PlayStation.
    • Impact thousands of developers and millions of players.
    • Work on long-term, high-impact platform initiatives.
    • Partner with strong technical leaders across the company.
    • Turn developer pain points into durable, scalable solutions.
