Job description

IT Infrastructure Engineer

Casne Engineering is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and support of enterprise-grade IT systems across our hybrid infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technologist with deep experience in networking, VMware, Veeam, and Windows Server environments, and thrives in a dynamic, SMB-scale IT operations setting.

This role is key to ensuring resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure for mission-critical IT Infrastructure for business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, SonicWall, Ubiquity, etc.).
  • Manage VMware vSphere hypervisors and virtual machine infrastructure across multiple sites.
  • Implement and support Veeam backup/replication solutions for both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Administer Windows Server VMs, including file servers, domain controllers, and application servers.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and hardware refresh cycles.
  • Maintain secure IT operations aligned with best practices (e.g., patching, hardening, role-based access).
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to plan and execute improvements for resiliency, security, and manageability.
  • Create and maintain documentation for configurations, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.

Required Skills

  • Network Administration – Strong proficiency with enterprise switches, firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs
  • VMware vSphere – Experience managing ESXi hosts, vCenter, and VM templates/clustering
  • Veeam – Advanced understanding of backup/recovery strategies in hybrid environments
  • Windows Server – Proven ability to administer Active Directory, file services, and virtual machines
  • Hybrid Infrastructure Management – Capable of integrating on-prem and cloud IT components

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • PowerShell or other scripting for task automation
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience with IT security tools and practices (endpoint protection, auditing, etc.)
  • Exposure to cloud IaaS platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
  • Knowledge of ITIL or structured change management processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure
  • VMware, Microsoft, or network vendor certifications preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in SMB or mid-sized business IT environments highly valued
