We are seeking a Data Governance & Analytics Analyst to join our team. This position will be able to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.
An AFL Data Governance & Analytics Analyst plays a critical role in transforming complex enterprise data into trusted insights that drive business decisions, operational performance, and continuous improvement. Combining strong analytical expertise with data governance principles, this role partners with business leaders to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, ensuring data is governed, trusted, and leveraged as a strategic asset. Working across business strategy, data analytics, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities, the role collaborates with Data Owners, Data Stewards, business stakeholders, and the Data Governance Council to improve data quality, strengthen governance, and enable data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engagement with senior business stakeholders to define data governance priorities, align on business objectives, and translate needs into actionable data initiatives.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of data governance initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities, timelines, and governance objectives.
  • Perform advanced analysis of complex enterprise datasets to identify trends, anomalies, root causes, risks, and opportunities that drive governance decisions, operational improvements, and business outcomes.
  • Develop executive dashboards, visualizations, and data stories that communicate meaningful insights, governance performance, emerging trends, and business recommendations.
  • Leverage AI-assisted analysis and productivity tools to improve data discovery, documentation, reporting, and insight generation while ensuring outputs are accurate, explainable, and aligned with data governance standards.
  • Drive the development, documentation, and maintenance of data governance frameworks, including data quality standards, data lineage, metadata management, and data stewardship models.
  • Partner with data owners and stewards to ensure accountability for data quality, integrity, and compliance across domains.
  • Support process assessments and root cause analyses to identify, document, and recommend scalable process and system improvements that enhance data quality and governance.
  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives by ensuring adherence to data policies, standards, and controls.
  • Collaborate with technology, info security, risk, compliance, and business teams to operationalize governance tools and processes.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to building best practices within the data governance function.

  • Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Coworker, Claude, Power BI Copilot, or similar technologies) to support analysis, documentation, reporting, and business process improvement.
  • Ability to effectively validate AI-generated outputs using critical thinking, business knowledge, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation) and data management concepts (data quality, metadata, data lineage).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate data governance initiatives, ensuring effective planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3-5+ years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or data governance roles, preferably in a supply chain or manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, exercise sound judgment and manage competing priorities while consistently delivering high-quality outcomes on time.
  • Familiarity with S&OP and/or IBP processes a plus.

Working Conditions
  • Normal office and manufacturing facility environment. Some travel may be required, but not frequent (<15%).
