Position Summary

The Senior Account Manager will secure profitable growth through proactive flavor-focused sales development across Texas and the broader Southwest and Southeast regions. This role is primarily responsible for prospecting, qualifying, and converting new business opportunities, with emphasis on contract manufacturers (CoMans), regional food manufacturers, and emerging and established brands.  While managing a limited portfolio of existing accounts, the primary objective is to expand McCormick’s flavor footprint, leading product development projects and building strategic customer relationships across functions.  The Senior Account Manager will communicate effectively with key customer contacts, promote cross-functional collaboration between McCormick and customer teams, manage pricing and profitability, and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of every customer interaction.  This role will report into a Sales Director.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business development across Texas and the broader South West & South East regions, with primary focus on flavor opportunities. Prospect, qualify, and convert new accounts including CoMans and regional brands. Build and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline.
  • Establish in-depth working relationships and manage activities at all levels within Purchasing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Technical, R&D, and Operations across assigned and target accounts.
  • Prioritize and independently manage customer product development projects across Flavor and adjacent product lines (seasonings, herbs, spices), from concept through commercialization.
  • Develop, implement, and report against strategic and tactical business plans for assigned accounts and regional growth initiatives, including measurable success metrics.
  • Develop customer pricing strategies in partnership with Sales Leadership to maximize growth and profitability; lead annual product and pricing reviews.
  • Serve as the primary McCormick contact for assigned accounts, promoting innovation, proactive customer intimacy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Food Science, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of food industry sales experience, preferably in flavors, or adjacent consultative selling environments.
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting and new business development. Comfortable in front of the customer.
  • Working knowledge of flavor functionality, nomenclature, applicability within manufacturing processes, flavor technology, and commercialization timelines.
  • Proven ability to manage complex sales cycles ranging from 6 weeks to 18+ months.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and business acumen.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills appropriate for procurement, technical and executive audiences.
  • Unwavering ethics and integrity, driven by unrelenting need to understand, curiosity, driven to make it happen today, unwillingness to wait
  • Works independently and is self-motivated while coordinating a collaborative, team oriented approach to customer solutions
  • Be viewed as a critical contact for McCormick and drive customer penetration through innovation and proactive customer intimacy. 
  • Ability to build business relationships internally and externally and leverage them into profitable growth.
  • Comfortable engaging at both technical bench-level and working with McCormick leadership to engage executive leadership levels at the customer.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license

Base Salary: $86,390 to $151,220

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan. In addition to a competitive compensation package, permanent employees of McCormick are eligible for our extensive Total Rewards programs that include:
