Key Roles & Responsibilities Team Management
- Manage day-to-day activities of the Maintenance department, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and outside building contractors.
- Set goals and priorities, monitor progress, and evaluate performance of staff to ensure maximum benefit of resources expended.
- Create an empowered environment (MHPS), ensuring that the Engineering & Maintenance organization and its people understand the goals and objectives (OGSMs) of the business and that they have the resources and support to accomplish them.
- Establish an environment that ensures and supports open and healthy communication.
CAAP Execution
- Prepare and manage Capital Asset Acquisition Proposal (CAAP) annual budget.
- Ensure projects are planned properly to provide sufficient funding, review data to ensure that results are achievable, and obtain necessary approvals.
- Closely monitor projects to ensure they are completed as planned and funds are utilized properly.
- On an ongoing basis, initiate design changes and modifications to improve machine efficiency, facilitate packaging design changes and cost reductions, and expand the capability of existing equipment to handle new products.
Strategic Planning
- Develop strategic capital plans to ensure acceptable return on investment for replacement of worn or obsolete equipment, expansion of capacity to meet sales growth, and equipment modification or replacement related to packaging changes or cost reduction.
- Coordinate the selection, design, and layout of processing and packaging machinery to ensure efficiency, optimum space utilization, and adequate production capacity.
- Ensure all engineering and maintenance processes are completely documented (including capital startup plans, SOPs, DOPs, and run documents), and implement any changes to these processes.
- Develop and implement effective preventive maintenance programs, and establish a proficient maintenance stores procurement and inventory control system.
- Meet all regulatory requirements related to waste disposal, air emissions, and facility permits and codes.
- File all regulatory documents in a timely manner with the appropriate Federal, State, and Local Governmental agencies.
- Ensure safety and security measures are in place for the facility, including sprinkler system, fire fighting equipment, internal alarm, and evacuation system.
- Continue to meet regulatory requirements for waste disposal, emissions, facility permits and codes, and file with the appropriate agencies.
Budget Management
- Create operating budgets and capital budgets with other leadership team members.
- Manage department expense budgets with appropriate accounting information and support.
- Participate in the business planning and budgeting process; develop short- and long-term cost containment and reduction strategies.
- Manage the operating budget for Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance.
