Senior Supervisor, Material Handling & Classification โ€“ Plasma Supply Chain (2nd Shift)

Job Description

The Senior Supervisor of Material Handling & Classification plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations within the Plasma Logistics Center. This position is responsible for ensuring the compliant handling, storage, verification, and distribution of human blood plasma while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory adherence. The Senior Supervisor provides leadership to operational staff, supports departmental planning, and collaborates cross-functionally to maintain efficient plasma flow throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the receipt, handling, verification, storage, and distribution of plasma in accordance with SOPs, cGMPs, and OSHA requirements.
  • Ensure plasma shipments and production lots meet all quality, storage, and regulatory requirements, and are delivered on time to internal and external customers.
  • Remove and document any unacceptable plasma units, ensuring proper disposition per established procedures.
  • Interview, hire, train, and supervise non-exempt employees; monitor performance and ensure team productivity and adherence to standards.
  • Develop, review, and maintain department SOPs to reflect current operational processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee inventory transactions and maintain high accuracy levels for raw plasma storage and movement.
  • Partner with internal and external customers including manufacturing, freight carriers, and quality operations to resolve operational and logistical issues.
  • Coordinate with Quality Operations to evaluate incoming plasma for acceptance, discrepancies, or non-conformance.
  • Provide support in annual budget creation and monthly financial monitoring for departmental resources and expenses.
  • Assist management in allocating personnel, equipment, and supplies to meet all plasma processing requirements
  • Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of plasma-related manufacturing processes, material handling, and inventory control.
  • In-depth understanding of cGMPs and regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership, independent decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • High sense of urgency and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, inventory planning, or distribution (plasma or biotech preferred).
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in a regulated environment strongly preferred.
