Position Overview:

MPC has an opportunity for a Data Analyst/Senior Data Analyst. This position is open to Findlay, OH, Houston, TX, and San Antonio, TX. This role will provide support to the Middle Office Risk Oversight, Risk Policy and Performance Measurement teams within Middle Office with a focus on Data Analytics and Visualization. It will help shape the implementation of new Risk Reporting (Mark to Market and Exposure Reports) and Oversight through Value at Risk (VaR) reporting and compliance. It is expected to work closely with IT to identify opportunities and implement enhancements to the existing systems. Middle Office is new to MPC and this is an opportunity to help shape the Middle Office relationships and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquires, cleans and preprocesses raw data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability; maintains knowledge of key systems and queries those systems for data.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis of large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends
  • Develops and implements analytical models to forecast future trends and outcomes
  • Develops and performs statistical analysis to identify patterns and correlations in the data
  • Creates visually compelling and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports
  • Communicates findings to stakeholders through charts, graphs, and presentations
  • Ensures integrity and quality of data through regular audits and validation processes
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver insights
  • Drive continuous improvement and defect elimination in organization using data insights
  • Establishes and supports data governance to ensure data is fit for optimum use by the organization
  • Partners and leads initiatives to build sustainable data pipelines, automations, and advanced analytics solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Two (2) - Four (4) years of experience required.
  • Preferred System Experience: Power BI, SQL, Risk Data Warehouse
  • Prefer prior experience in commercial, risk oversight, IT or refining.
