Laborup Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Production Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Production Worker, you need basic mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, safety protocols, and sometimes certifications like OSHA training are commonly required. Reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are important soft skills that help maintain workflow and cooperation on the production floor. These skills and qualities ensure efficient production, adherence to safety standards, and high-quality output in a manufacturing environment.

What are some common challenges faced by production workers and how can they be addressed?

Production workers often face challenges such as repetitive tasks, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining quality standards in a fast-paced environment. To address these, it's important to follow best practices for ergonomics to prevent fatigue, communicate regularly with supervisors about workflow issues, and stay organized to manage time effectively. Many companies provide ongoing training and encourage teamwork, which helps workers adapt to process changes and improve efficiency. Building strong relationships with team members and supervisors can also help quickly resolve any issues that arise on the production line.

What are production workers?

Production workers are employees who are responsible for operating machinery, assembling products, and performing other tasks involved in the manufacturing process. They typically work on factory floors or production lines, ensuring that goods are produced efficiently and meet quality standards. Their duties can include monitoring equipment, packaging finished products, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Production workers often work in shifts and may be required to stand for long periods or lift heavy materials.

Job description

Overview
We are seeking a Foundry Production Technician to support our specialized production of advanced metal powder materials. This is a demanding, hands-on role in a heavy industrial setting where you will be working directly with molten metal and high-temperature furnaces. Success in this position requires extreme attention to detail, continuous vigilance, and an uncompromising commitment to safety.
In this role, you will operate and maintain complex melting and processing equipment, conduct critical quality control checks, and monitor sensitive process parameters to ensure the production of high-quality materials. Because of the hazardous nature of working with molten metal, strict adherence to safety protocols is the top priority.
We are not necessarily looking for candidates with prior experience in metal atomization; rather, we are looking for advanced production technicians with backgrounds in heavy industry, manufacturing, foundry, or forge environments. If you are comfortable in a physically demanding setting and pride yourself on your focus and precision, you will be a great fit for this team.
We have openings on both day and evening shift.
Compensation
  • Starts at $25/hr

Shifts
  • Monday - Thursday
  • 4x10s
  • Day shift: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Evening shift: 4:30 PM - 3:00 AM

Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate specialized alloy melt and atomization equipment, maintaining precise control over temperature, pressure, and other critical process variables.
  • Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines for working around molten metal and heavy machinery; maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team at all times.
  • Quality Control & Vigilance: Stay engaged throughout your shift to conduct thorough quality checks, continuously monitor process parameters, and immediately identify and troubleshoot any deviations.
  • Metal Preparation: Prepare metal alloys for processing following established procedures for composition and purity.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic masonry tasks to reline furnaces and tundishes as required; conduct routine equipment maintenance and collaborate with the maintenance team to resolve complex issues.
  • Production Data Management: Maintain highly detailed and accurate records of process parameters, production volumes, and quality control data; update visual management boards daily.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Required
  • Experience: Proven experience as an advanced production technician in heavy industry, manufacturing, or similar demanding physical environments.
  • Safety-First Mindset: Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in high-risk, extreme-temperature, or hazardous industrial settings.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus and vigilance, with the ability to perform critical quality control and precise process monitoring over a 10-hour shift.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to interpret technical instructions, troubleshoot equipment issues, and accurately document operational data.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, stand for long periods, and lift/move heavy equipment or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requirements - Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Preferred

Benefits
  • Competitive hourly wage
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Stable, team-oriented manufacturing environment with training and growth opportunities
