    Job description

    Job Summary

    We're hiring an experienced Offset Printing Press Technician to join our 2nd-shift team, operating large-format sheetfed offset ink printing presses.

    Working with the Lead Pressman, you'll take ownership of the feeder operations and back-end mechanical performance of industry-leading equipment to produce commercial print and packaging products. You'll keep the press running smoothly, handling everything from staging materials and installing plates to fine-tuning alignments and setting up rollers.

    Responsibilities

    • Feeder & Back-End Operation: Take primary ownership of the back of the machine, ensuring continuous, precise paper loading and feeding for large-format printing jobs.
    • Press Setup & Make-Ready: Retrieve and install printing plates, packing sheets, blankets, inks, and assist the Pressman in setting up the rollers.
    • Mechanical Calibration: Continuously adjust machine parts, alignment, and feeder mechanisms to guarantee precise, flawless paper feed at high volumes.
    • Technical Troubleshooting: Act as secondary owner of the press's overall mechanical health by diagnosing and resolving mechanical and feeding issues on the fly, as well as performing routine maintenance and minor repairs.
    • Lockstep Collaboration: Communicate seamlessly and constantly with the Lead Pressman to execute jobs efficiently and safely.
    • Quality Control: Maintain a high standard of quality, assist in monitoring print runs, and safely manage the removal and recycling of discarded plates.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience: Proven experience operating, feeding, or assisting on large-format sheetfed offset printing presses.
    • Industry Background: Previous roles in a commercial printing, folding carton manufacturing, or large-scale packaging production environment.
    • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong ability to calibrate equipment, adjust alignments, and independently troubleshoot mechanical issues on complex machinery.
    • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to take instruction, read technical job specifications, and communicate effectively to work as a unified team with the Pressman.

    Preferred

    • Machine Familiarity: Experience on 57"+ large-format presses such as Koenig & Bauer (KBA), Heidelberg, Komori, Manroland, Mitsubishi, or Ryobi.
    • Advanced Maintenance: Experience performing deep mechanical diagnostics and advanced pressroom maintenance.
