    We are searching for the best talent for a Staff Project Manager, R&D PMO to join our J&J Orthopaedics team (DePuy Synthes). This is an exciting opportunity to lead large and complex programs that advance innovation across the Orthopaedics portfolio. This position is based in Raynham MA. Other J&J locations may be considered for the ideal candidate.
    Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
    Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.
    Purpose:
    The Staff Project Manager, R&D PMO - Shoulder will provide project leadership for high-impact, cross-functional Shoulder programs spanning early concept development through commercialization and lifecycle management. This role will partner closely with R&D, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, surgeon design partners, and commercial stakeholders to translate unmet clinical needs into disciplined program execution. The successful candidate will bring strong project management rigor, technical curiosity, and the ability to lead through ambiguity while helping the Shoulder team deliver differentiated solutions for surgeons, healthcare systems, and patients.
    You will be responsible for:
    In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
    • Lead large, complex Shoulder programs from concept through market introduction, aligned to portfolio priorities, business objectives, and patient-focused innovation goals.
    • Partner with Shoulder R&D, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, surgeon design partners, and commercial teams to define scope, deliverables, decision points, and success measures.
    • Build and manage integrated program plans, milestones, critical paths, budgets, resources, risks, and governance routines for product development and lifecycle initiatives.
    • Drive disciplined execution through stage-gate reviews, design control deliverables, risk management, decision documentation, and timely escalation of issues and tradeoffs.
    • Translate surgeon, customer, market, and technical inputs into clear project requirements and execution plans that support the Shoulder portfolio strategy.
    • Develop executive-ready communications, including program status, risk-benefit assessments, launch readiness updates, post-market introduction reports, and portfolio recommendations.
    • Lead cross-functional problem solving, manage competing priorities, and maintain focus on schedule, budget, quality, compliance, and business impact.
    • Build strong internal and external partnerships to support product development, evidence generation, clinical adoption, and launch readiness.
    • Serve as a project management subject matter expert for the Shoulder team, coaching colleagues and strengthening consistent use of PMO tools, methods, and governance expectations.
    • Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
    • Follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices, as applicable.
    • Ensure subordinates follow all Company Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and have the resources needed to do so, if applicable.
    • Ensure personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Applied Science or other related discipline is required.
    • Minimum of 5-6 years work experience is required in product development (or other related experience) and/or as a technical project manager.
    • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project, Teams, etc.) is required.
    • A successful track record of leading and working within cross-functional teams is required.
    • Demonstrated exceptional problem-solving ability is required.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and apply project management skills which result in meeting project/program goals and objectives is required
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied workload is required.
    • Ability to independently create and manage project budgets within guidelines.
    • Ability to effectively utilize verbal, written and presentation skills is required.
    • Demonstrated success in leading a project from concept through market introduction is required.
    • Ability to ensure compliance to FDA, MDR, etc. to design control regulations is required.
    • Ability to build effective interdependent partnering relationships is required.
    • Ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills is required.
    • Ability to develop leadership capabilities and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to effectively assimilate and communicate complex information from multiple sources.
    • Ability to recognize and lead the resolution of project issues and roadblocks is required.
    • Ability to model and integrate the Standards of Leadership into all business practices and activities.
    • Additional training in either PMI, Six Sigma, or Product Development processes desired.
    • Proficiency utilizing project lifecycle management (PLM) software is preferred.
    • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) preferred.
    • Up to 15% business travel may be required.

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

    Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
