    Structural Engineering Intern | Vancouver, WA

    This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.
    IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Vancouver, WA. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist a team of experienced engineers and consultants with the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems in buildings and other structures. This is a paid, mentored internship with real project work that supports project goals and client expectations.
    You'll support work that stays aligned with project budgets while coordinating with cross-functional teams across the design process. The team supports commercial work and Pacific Northwest resilience-focused structural efforts, including seismic rehabilitation and utility equipment qualification, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

    What You'll Do
    • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.

    • Assist with researching and finding resources for projects.

    • Assist with client relations, project design notebook documentation, and permanent record files.

    • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier partners.

    • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.

    • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.

    • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.

    • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.

    Education
    • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

    Required Skills/Abilities
    • Strong interest in design consulting

    • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

    • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

    • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

    Preferred
    • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

    • Vancouver-based structural team with a highly visible seismic retrofit and utility specialty.

    • Highly specialized Pacific Northwest resilience and seismic structural team, with heavy exposure to public infrastructure and utility equipment qualification.

    • Seismic rehabilitation for schools, fire stations, and police facilities.

    • SRGP and TAP assessment work across Oregon districts and public agencies.

    • Utility and power equipment qualification, especially transformers, reactors, and substations.

    • Recent work includes Clark Public Utilities Operations Center New Data Room, Utility Company, and Redmond Fire Station 404 Seismic Rehabilitation

    State of Washington Pay Range: $22-24 per hour
    The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
    Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
    Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
