    Job description

    HealthPartners is hiring a Director of Accounting. The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for assigned areas of the organization.  The Director will work closely with leaders across finance and operations in support of the HealthPartners organization and its mission and vision.  Director possesses a deep knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and other regulatory statutes and provides strategy and guidance to departments throughout the HealthPartners enterprise.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
      • BA/BS in accounting or business-related field.
      • 8 - 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably to the senior leadership level.
      • Adept in accounting methods, and techniques according to GAAP, GAS and FASB rulings.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

        Excellent oral and written communication skills.

        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

      • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
        • CPA/MBA
        • Accounting in Healthcare environment
        • Knowledge of financial systems including Oracle Fusion and business intelligence tools.

      • Working knowledge in accounting methods and techniques according to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) rulings

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  

    1. (25%) -  Responsible for establishing, monitoring and maintaining an appropriate internal control environment. 
    2. ( 25%) - Responsible for the timing and accuracy of the financial close process.
    3. (30 %) - Directs the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal purposes.
      1. Prepares financial summaries and variance analysis and communicates results with internal customers.
      2. Conducts analysis and reporting to understand trends, variances and identify opportunities.
      3. Responsible for understanding and providing input into the cost allocation methods between organizations and divisions within HealthPartners.
      4. Works with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to support the organization's internal financial analysis and reporting.
    4. ( 10%) - Provides financial analysis on corporate major projects and initiatives with multi-million dollar impacts to the business.
    5. (5 %) - Builds effective working relationships with senior level executives and departmental leaders within the organization and become an integral part of the management team and financial advocate for the divisions.
    6. ( 5%) - Provides other financial analysis and projects as requested by senior management:
      1. Performs other duties as requested by management
      2. Pro forma modeling
      3. Benchmarking
      4. Forecasting financial results
      5. Budget preparation
