Job description

Job Overview

This role owns the operational core of the People team, the processes employees interact with most directly and depend on most critically. From a new hire's first day to an employee navigating a visa renewal to a team member going through offboarding, you are the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. As Harbinger scales rapidly, this role is foundational: the quality of our employee experience lives here.

What You'll Do

Onboarding

  • Own the end-to-end new hire experience across all locations and roles, from offer acceptance through day one readiness
  • Coordinate with hiring managers, IT, Facilities, and Payroll to ensure seamless pre-boarding and first-day logistics
  • Manage new hire paperwork, I-9 verification, system provisioning, and orientation scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements across jurisdictions
  • Continuously improve the onboarding process using new hire feedback and operational data

Offboarding

  • Manage the full offboarding lifecycle including system deprovisioning, benefits termination, and final pay coordination
  • Ensure separation compliance across jurisdictions, including state-specific final pay, COBRA notice, and documentation requirements
  • Track offboarding data and surface trends, voluntary attrition patterns, timing, and themes, to inform retention efforts

Intern Program

  • Own the end-to-end intern program lifecycle: cohort planning, hiring partnership with TA, J-1 visa filing, onboarding, mid-point check-ins, end-of-program evaluation, and events!
  • Design meaningful project scoping with hosting managers so interns ship real work tied to business outcomes, not filler assignments
  • Build the intern experience layer, including mentorship pairings, learning sessions, exec exposure, and cohort community
  • Define conversion criteria and evaluation frameworks that give managers a consistent basis for return-offer decisions
  • Track program metrics including offer acceptance, conversion rate, manager satisfaction, and intern NPS to inform future cohort strategy
  • Partner with TA and university relations to build a pipeline aligned to Harbinger's engineering and manufacturing talent needs

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and own ongoing data integrity across the employee lifecycle
  • Respond to employee inquiries on policies, procedures, and programs with speed and discretion
  • Support employment law compliance and internal audit requirements
  • Partner with the HR Solutions Architect to identify and eliminate manual processes through automation and workflow improvements
  • Partner with the Program Manager on operational execution of people programs, open enrollment, performance review logistics, engagement surveys, and similar
  • Onboard and act as a secondary POC for Benefits Administration and Leave Management

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or HR Generalist roles
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of: onboarding, offboarding, intern / early career  program
  • Experience with HRIS platforms and comfort managing employee data
  • Extremely organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Empathetic communicator who can handle sensitive employee situations with discretion
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent processes without dropping anything

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting a manufacturing or multi-site workforce
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or CEBS certification
  • Experience in a high-growth environment where processes are being built from scratch
