Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking compassionate and dependable Special Education Aides to support students with disabilities in various classroom settings. This position assists teachers in implementing instructional activities and individualized supports to promote student learning, independence, and success.
Primary Purpose
Assist teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and providing instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)
  • Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org (course will be purchased by the District)
Special Knowledge / Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical needs
  • Knowledge of behavior support strategies preferred
  • Ability to follow instructional plans and teacher direction
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Experience:
  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
  • Experience in an educational setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Support
  • Assist with implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce academic skills
  • Support instructional activities and classroom routines
Behavior & Safety Support
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed
  • Monitor students to ensure safety during classroom activities and transitions
  • Assist teachers with maintaining a structured learning environment
Personal Care & Physical Support (if required)
  • Assist students with mobility, hygiene, feeding, or other personal care needs as necessary
  • Support students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and campus transitions
Classroom & Administrative Support
  • Prepare instructional materials and maintain classroom organization
  • Assist with data collection related to student progress and IEP goals
  • Provide support to substitute teachers and related service providers
Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in staff development and required special education training
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and families
  • Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration
Working Conditions
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting students
  • Ability to assist with student mobility or positioning if required
Mental Demands:
  • Ability to maintain emotional control and patience in a structured special education environment
