Position Title: Finish Dozer Operator

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Finish Dozer Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty bulldozers to perform precise grading, leveling, and site preparation tasks essential for construction projects.

Essential Job Accountabilities
  • Operate finish dozers and other heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, and horizontal drilling equipment to perform grading, excavation, and site leveling tasks.
  • Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
  • Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
  • Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
  • Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
  • Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
  • Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
  • May grease, oil, and repair tractor.
Education
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Certification
  • Proper certification required
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program required.
Work Experience
  • Appropriate training and experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Workers should be able to:

  • Read engineering drawing
  • Practice good safety habits
  • Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards
  • Judge distances and slopes accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards.

Physically, workers must be able to:

  • Stoop, bend, and crouch
  • Use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • See well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
