Position Title: Finish Dozer OperatorWe are seeking a motivated and skilled Finish Dozer Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty bulldozers to perform precise grading, leveling, and site preparation tasks essential for construction projects.
Essential Job Accountabilities- Operate finish dozers and other heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, and horizontal drilling equipment to perform grading, excavation, and site leveling tasks.
- Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
- Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
- Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
- Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
- Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
- Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
- May grease, oil, and repair tractor.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
- Proper certification required
- Completion of an apprenticeship program required.
- Appropriate training and experience required
Workers should be able to:
- Read engineering drawing
- Practice good safety habits
- Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
- Follow instructions and meet set standards
- Judge distances and slopes accurately
- Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
Physically, workers must be able to:
- Stoop, bend, and crouch
- Use hands, arms, and legs fully
- See well (either naturally or with correction)
- Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
