Job description

Job Summary (List Format):
- Position: Digital Accessibility Associate
- Location: Local candidates only; must specify current location in resume. Must be available for in-person interviews and able to start within 2 weeks of offer.
- Mission: Ensure digital information is accessible to everyone by remediating PDFs to meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA).
- Key Responsibilities:
- Remediate PDF documents for accessibility, making them usable for people with disabilities.
- Add semantic tags, ensure correct reading order, provide alt text for images, and address structural issues.
- Use tools such as Grackle and Adobe Acrobat Pro to make documents compatible with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers).
- Follow strict project guidelines and compliance rules for accessibility.
- Impact: Enable people using assistive technologies to access government resources, removing barriers to critical information.
- Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Analytical mindset for solving complex document layouts.
- Ability to quickly learn and use business and PDF remediation software.
- Comfortable with process-driven and standards-based work.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with HTML/CSS and web page development.
- Knowledge of Title II of the ADA and WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Accessibility certifications (e.g., IAAP CPACC).
- Experience using Grackle and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Work Arrangement:
- Initial onboarding and training (1-2 weeks) are in-person at the Department of Revenue.
- Remote work offered after training.
- Full-time, 3-month assignment.
- Interview Process: May be conducted onsite or remotely; candidate must be available for both options.
