Job Title: Software Tester (IT – AZDES – DERS)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite)
Duration: June 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Employment Type: Staff Augmentation (Hourly)
 
Position Overview

The Software Tester will support a large-scale software modernization project for the Arizona Department of Economic Security (AZDES), focused on replacing systems for Vocational Rehabilitation, Older Independent Blind, and Business Enterprise Programs.
The selected candidates will work as part of the RSA Project Team, executing testing activities throughout the system development lifecycle to ensure quality, accuracy, and successful implementation.
 
 
Key Responsibilities

Review and understand testing methodologies, including test plans, scripts, and documentation
Complete required training for the new system (inFormed Academy)
Review, validate, and provide feedback on test scripts
Execute a variety of test types, including:
Conversion Verification & Functional Testing
Functional & Non-functional Testing
Regression and Retesting
Ad hoc Testing
Record and track test results (pass/fail) accurately
Create and maintain defect and testing documentation
Assist with requirements validation and confirmation
Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, walkthroughs)
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Business Analysts
Attend defect remediation sessions and testing-related meetings
Provide clear progress updates and status reporting
Support operational readiness testing users as needed
Maintain timesheets and adhere to deadlines

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years of software testing experience
At least 1 year of experience testing large-scale applications or application components
Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices
Experience working with tools such as:
Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint
or
Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong documentation and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Familiarity with government systems or business processes
 

Additional Requirements

Local candidates only (must currently reside in the Phoenix, AZ area)
Must be available for in-person interviews within 1 week of posting close
Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer acceptance
Security clearance/background check required
No travel required
