Our Assistant District Attorneys are dedicated to public service, public safety, and justice for all involved in the criminal justice system.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, in particular, is committed to several citywide collaborations aimed at reducing Philadelphia's jail population and improving the criminal justice system overall.
Please note that effective September 1, 2021, the City of Philadelphia requires all new employees to present proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
To attain a job with the city, you must be a City of Philadelphia resident within 6 months (180 days) of hire and able to work in-person at the office (five days a week in compliance with the City and DAO's mandate).
Summary of Job
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office (DAO) stands at the forefront of modern, reform prosecution and is committed to recruiting and hiring talented, diverse professionals across all levels of the organization. The Recruiting Coordinator supports this mission by working closely with the Recruiting Manager, Chief of Staff, and Executive team to develop and implement comprehensive recruiting strategies and protocols. While the role is heavily focused on legal recruiting, including law students, interns, and attorney hiring, responsibilities may also extend to recruiting business professionals such as paralegals, victim advocates, IT professionals, researchers, etc.
Serving as the primary point of contact for the On-Campus Interview (OCI) process, the Recruiting Coordinator manages a high volume of applications generated through partnerships with law schools, recruiting events, and the DAO's careers page. Key responsibilities include sourcing and reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews with the Executive team and Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders, registering for OCI and organizing legal recruitment events, coordinating travel, extending offers or rejections, preparing candidates for onboarding, and maintaining precise and accurate documentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for law students, entry-level, and lateral attorney hires. This includes posting job opportunities, sourcing and reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, extending offers, conducting background checks, and sending out rejection communication.
  2. Register for and schedule nationwide OCI law school events, maintaining strong communication with university partners and recruiting stakeholders. Maintain the annual OCI recruiting calendar.
  3. Coordinate with the DA's Executive Assistant and co-facilitators of the DAO's recruitment team (henceforth referred to as "the recruitment travel team"), who oversee on-campus recruitment and speaking events for the DA.
  4. Create job postings and source candidates through the DAO Career page, FloRecruit, Symplicity, and 12Twenty as part of the OCI process. Serve as the main point of contact and subject-matter expert for Symplicity, 12Twenty, DocuSign, and FloRecruit on behalf of the DAO.
  5. Provide virtual support to the recruitment travel team, including communications with law students and law school administrators, managing travel itineraries and bookings, processing job offers, updating the recruitment tracker and SharePoint, scheduling interviews, coordinating office visits, and responding to inquiries.
  6. Build and maintain personnel files for new hires, and prepare new class binders for the Executive team. Partner with HR, IT, and Office Services to ensure a successful onboarding experience.
  7. Maintain and update legal recruitment databases, trackers, and document templates- including the recruitment guide, offer letters, job descriptions, FAQs, and the Philly Guide to support consistent communication and documentation.
  8. Create, update, and send out quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc surveys that gather information from new hires and internal staff.
  9. Organize and facilitate all legal Recruitment and Internship events during the summer and fall seasons.
  10. Track recruitment, job advertisement performance, and diversity metrics for ad-hoc reports. Communicate recruitment updates to the Recruiting Manager, Chief of Staff (Executive Team), Recruitment travel team, HR, and IT as needed.
  11. Serve as a backup to the Recruitment Manager by assisting in Business Professional recruiting and providing additional support as needed.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Candidate must have a bachelor's degree, with 2-3 years of administrative, Human Resources, and/or recruitment experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and thorough attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through on all assignments.
