Job description

Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:

This position is classified as non-exempt in accordance with applicable federal and state wage and hour laws. As the Assembly/Machine Operator you will assemble, operate machinery, and perform quality checks on the products ensuring complete, accurate, and on-time products delivered to customers.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role

A. Creating a High-Quality Product (90% of the job)

  1. Counts material and products to ensure accuracy for the customer, as well as maintaining good inventory and expense control.
  2. Ensures all parts are within specifications as described in the processes. Advises management, if not, to ensure parts are returned for replacement/credit.
  3. Assembles products following specifications, instructions, or diagrams each time using hand tools, as required.
  4. Operates various machines with light set up, troubleshooting, and disassembly to keep product flowing.
  5. Ensures all processes are done in a high quality and efficient way to meet or exceed the needs of our customers.
  6. Confirms and applies appropriate labels on the products in a specific location to identify the product or parts accurately.
  7. Ensures all parts are inspected for quality and delivers to final inspection (where applicable) for a reliable product.

B. Teamwork & Mentoring (5% of the job)

  1. Uses strengths and skills to mentor/assist others for a growing team atmosphere and to meet or exceed delivery dates and customer expectations.

C. Other Areas of Responsibility (5% of the job)

  1. Supports leaders and other team areas as needed to meet overall team goals.

Position Requirements:

A.Education: A high school diploma, and or GED equivalent
B.Experience: 2+ years of small to mid-size assembly, small machine operation and inspection work.
C.Certification(s): n/a
D.Functional Skills: Basic math & counting skills; detail-oriented, precise and accurate in their work; able to read, comprehend, and retain work instructions with ability to work with small and mid-sized piece work using hand tools at a good speed; able to learn, operate, troubleshoot, and perform light assembly/disassembly of machines and equipment; good prioritization skills and be flexible to move from job to job as priorities change.
E.Technology Aptitude/Skills: Abiity to use tablets/PCs to review procedures and enter data.
F.Language Skills: Able to read/write/speak English fluently; communicates in a positive way.
G.Leadership/Behaviors: Self-directed, highly-motivated, with the ability to be a good team player and work well

H. Culture Match Behaviors: Respectful of team members and policies, goal and customer-focused; can stay focused on quality, as well as being efficient to produce a high level of output on the job. Requires an excellent work ethic with the ability to learn and problem-solve.

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

  • This position is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment where the noise level is moderate to high.
  • The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, static bands, etc.
  • The position may face exposure to some variances in temperature; exposure to smells, fumes, working around mechanical parts or confined spaces frequently.
