Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ABB Robotics Automation Engineer to program, configure, troubleshoot, integrate, and commission ABB industrial robots and robotic work cells in a manufacturing environment. The role will provide hands-on shop-floor support for robotic systems, production downtime, robot program optimization, system validation, startup, and commissioning. The engineer will collaborate with manufacturing, controls, quality, maintenance, and product engineering teams to improve cycle time, quality, safety, and OEE.

Key Skills

  • ABB robot programming, Robot Studio, robot controller platforms, and hands-on ABB robot troubleshooting
  • Robotic welding, material handling, assembly, machine tending, and automated manufacturing applications
  • Integration of robots with PLCs, vision systems, sensors, conveyors, tooling, and peripheral equipment
  • Robot commissioning, validation, testing, program optimization, and cycle-time improvement
  • Shop-floor troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and manufacturing downtime resolution
  • Optimization of robot configurations, including harnesses, cabling, and end-of-arm tooling

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field
  • 5 15 years of experience in robotics, automation, and manufacturing engineering
  • Extensive hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting ABB industrial robots
  • Strong knowledge of ABB Robot Studio and robot controller platforms
  • Experience with robotic arc welding, material handling, assembly, machine tending, or automated manufacturing applications
  • Experience integrating ABB robots with PLCs such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and support robotic systems on the manufacturing shop floor

Additional Skills

  • Experience with vision-guided robotics and automated inspection systems
  • Experience commissioning new automation equipment and production lines
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or equivalent continuous improvement experience
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Ability to collaborate with PLC/Controls engineers on troubleshooting and permanent resolution of robotic system issues
