Advanced Quality Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced quality control plans and inspection methodologies.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action initiatives for complex quality issues.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other analytical tools to monitor and improve product quality and process capability.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on reducing defects, scrap, and rework.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Conduct supplier quality audits and work with suppliers to improve incoming material quality.
  • Mentor and train junior quality engineers and manufacturing personnel on quality best practices.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Bonus Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for data analysis and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools (Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus).
  • Knowledge of specific industry quality standards (e.g., ISO/TS, AS9100, IATF 16949).
  • Experience with advanced problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, FMEA, fishbone diagrams).
