Job description

Job posting may be removed earlier if the position is filled or if a sufficient number of applications are received.

This role can be performedremote in Boston, San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago or Dallas.Meet the Team

Splunk seeks an outstanding technologist to join the Office of the Field CTO as a founding Innovation Engineer inside Splunk's Global Specialist Organization! This is a high-impact, field-facing role for someone who lives at the intersection of deep Splunk platform practice, Horizon 3 market foresight, and customer outcomes translating what's new and what's next in security, observability, and digital resilience into narratives and artifacts the field can operationalize globally!

Your Impact

You will play a key role in helping Splunk's most strategic enterprise customers understand how progressive innovation in security, observability, and AI will reshape their organizations and in equipping Field CTOs, AI Solutions Architects, and senior specialists across the GSO with consistent, credible content to deliver that story. With your background in Splunk platform and AI capabilities, you'll partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Technical Marketing, and the most senior field technical community to convert innovation roadmaps into proof-of-value narratives, executive-ready briefings, and repeatable field assets that advance durable growth and customer outcomes.

  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering leadership to internalize Splunk's innovation direction, represent field intelligence back into roadmap conversations, and compose consistent global narratives that prove how platform and AI innovation drive transformational customer outcomes.
  • Incubate Horizon 3 use cases detecting patterns in emerging security, observability, and resilience capabilities and translate them into buyer-legible stories about people, process, and technology change required for customers to adopt advanced Splunk and Cisco capabilities.
  • Author and maintain technical narratives, demos, proof-of-value artifacts, and executive pre-reads that Field CTOs, AI Solutions Architects, and GSO specialists can use to message innovation with one voice across strategic accounts and industry events.
  • Operate as a Splunk practitioner, demonstrating core platform and AI capabilities across security and observability use cases, grounding every story in Splunk's differentiated platform moat as competitive pressure intensifies.
  • Force-multiply output using Cisco and Splunk-approved agentic AI tooling to research, draft, iterate, and quality check artifacts under the Global Field CTO's publish bar with human review on every customer-facing release.
  • Curate and deliver executive-grade experiences in collaboration with Technical Marketing, developing content and talk tracks for Cisco's Customer Experience Center and Splunk's executive briefing programs that encourage CIO, CISO, and CTO audiences with art-of-the-possible capabilities.
  • Compose how Splunk shows up on the world's largest stages partnering with Product and Technology teams to define innovation showcases for .conf, Cisco Live, and flagship analyst and partner forums.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and contributor to Cisco Innovation Labs and portfolio-level storytelling, working with Cisco's product strategy organization so Splunk is represented credibly in multi-product, industry-specific innovation demonstrations that span the Cisco + Splunk portfolio.
  • Collaborate with elite field technical partners and their innovation labs to understand external innovation signals, complement Splunk's market narrative, and expand perception of Splunk's relevance in the Agentic Era.
  • Produce public-source innovation briefings and field receipts the GSO can cite safely following disciplined sourcing so customer-facing packs accelerate adoption without roadmap leakage.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in enterprise security, observability, or large-scale data platforms with at least 3 years in a customer-facing, field engineering, or technical advisory role serving strategic accounts or partners.
  • Ability to move from idea to working artifact to proofs of concept, reference architectures, executive narratives, and demo flows that shipped to real customers or field programs, not slideware alone.
  • Proficiency in agentic AI workflows for technical content production, research synthesis, and iteration-using modern AI tools as a core part of how you work, with clear judgment about quality, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to translate deep technical innovation for CIO, CISO, and CTO audiences-in customer briefings, executive centers, and global industry events.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep technical proficiency in Splunk's core platform and AI capabilities, with demonstrated expertise across security and observability use cases that underpin Splunk's market leadership.
  • Experience in building agentic workflows for SOC, observability, or resilience operations use cases aligned to Splunk's Trusted AI and agent-lifecycle direction.
  • Knowledge of Cisco's security and networking portfolio, including how Cisco Data Fabric, XDR, ThousandEyes, and related controls connect to Splunk's security and observability story.
  • Familiarity with transformative buyer-change frameworks (operating-model, committee, and diagnostic selling) and comfort leading with customer change before platform depth in executive rooms.
  • Experience contributing to Cisco Live, .conf, or comparable flagship events as a technical storyteller or demo owner.
  • Active technical voice in the Splunk community - conf speaker, published reference architectures, or recognized practitioner in security/observability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication-able to formulate crisp, outcome-led narratives that senior field experts will reuse globally.
  • Track record of partnering closely with Product Management and Engineering-converting technical roadmaps into field-ready stories while incorporating field signal without owning product prioritization.
