What We Are Looking For

As part of our workforce strategy, our goal is to hire and onboard a cohort of Superintendents by July. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an immersive, onsite training program designed to align on Ceres’ operating standards, safety protocols, and field execution expectations. Following this initial training period, individuals will transition into on-call status, remaining engaged and prepared for rapid deployment as project needs arise. This approach ensures both readiness and continuity, enabling our teams to respond quickly and effectively when activated while providing candidates with early exposure to our culture, processes, and leadership expectations.

We’re building a ready-to-deploy pipeline of trained Superintendents to support emergency activations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. As a Superintendent you will ensure quality, compliance, and production integrity of our debris removal and emergency response activations. The ideal candidate brings strong field leadership, operational discipline, and financial acumen, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and changing conditions.

You will be handson, safetydriven, and highly organized, capable of planning work, directing the daily activities of workers and subcontractors, managing materials and schedules, and ensuring strict adherence to contract requirements. Success in this role requires the ability to coordinate multiple work streams, resolve issues quickly in the field, and interface effectively with government representatives, inspectors, suppliers, and labor representatives while maintaining clear communication with project management.

This role requires the ability to work extended hours when needed, thrives in deployed and travelheavy roles, and be responsive to disasteraffected environments with minimal notice to stabilize operations and deliver results.

Above all, this role demands a Superintendent who champions a safetyfirst culture, leads by example, and balances operational execution with financial and workforce awareness to drive successful project completion.

What You Will Do

• Read, understand, and adhere to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety policies.
• Leverages financial knowledge to guide operational decisions, aligning field strategies with cost control and profit objectives.
• Directs and coordinates personnel and subcontractors in the planning and execution of onsite work, aligning project phases to prevent schedule conflicts and delays.
• Monitor work in the field for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility by working close with crews. Daily quantification of trucks and locations, haul rounds, and debris quantities.
• Verify debris eligibility in accordance with contract specifications and FEMA guidelines. Document and log any ineligible or non-compliant debris promptly.
• Provides direct supervision to five (5) or more employees, either on a single large project or across multiple smaller projects. In addition, indirect reports will be up to 30.
• Collaborates with Project Management, inspectors, and material suppliers to resolve operational challenges and improve work methods.
• Inspects work to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and terms and conditions.
• Prepares and reviews daily production reports, including progress, labor and materials usage, debris hauled or processed, and associated costs; adjusts work schedules as required.
• Support the management of contract schedules and agreements, ensuring accuracy and organization.
• Provide daily report data based on activity.
• Perform additional tasks as needed to support project success.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years experience as a Superintendent or comparable field leadership role within disaster recovery, construction, or related field operations.
• 5+ years of people management and coordination experience, with a track record of planning, directing, and sequencing work for crews and subcontractors across multiple project phases to maintain schedules and minimize operational disruptions.
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply safety regulations, contract documents (including subcontracts), project specifications, and construction drawings.
• Demonstrated financial and operational accountability, including experience managing labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs, reviewing production and cost reports, and making field-level decisions that support budget adherence and profitability.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively with minimal advance notice, including shortnotice deployment to disasteraffected locations across the U.S.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with field crews, subcontractors, project leadership, and clients.
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to meet company driving requirements. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management or related field.
• Prior experience at the Superintendent level on Disaster Recovery projects with a high volume of varied debris removal.
• First Aid/CPR certified, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, additional certifications in civil construction or related disciplines.  
• Prior experience working at a lead level on a USACE, FEMA, or other federally funded emergency response project.
• Working knowledge of FEMA/USACE debris eligibility requirements and load ticket documentation processes.

Physical Requirements and Environment

• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance in varying conditions.
• Must be able to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must have specific vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision.
• Must be willing to wear PPE (hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, etc.).
• Ability to work in challenging environments including outdoor weather, mechanical areas, heights, confined spaces, and loud noise levels.
• Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.
