Description:

Ascentec Engineering is hiring! We are seeking a Manufacturing Strategy Engineer who will develop manufacturing strategies, systems, and continuous improvement processes to support production build success. The contemplated strategies will result in high- quality products being built within budgeted parameters. This role will also develop sustainable improvements through engagement using a team-based approach and continuous improvement toolsets.


The selected candidate exercises independent judgment to adjust priorities, goals, work assignments, methods, procedures, and techniques for successful project facilitation.


This position is on-site at our Tualatin, Oregon location (not remote/not hybrid) and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:

· Evaluates and develops engineering plans or work orders to fabricate work aids, fixtures, or other items to assist production in cost reductions for continuous improvement.

· Assists in developing key performance indicators (KPI’s) to establish baseline performance metrics on key processes required to assess the impact of change.

· Supports engineering projects by preparing detailed designs from concept designs and written specifications, ensuring manufacturability.

· Confers with outside firms and other staff to resolve manufacturing problems.

· Leads continuous improvement initiatives to reduce bottom-line costs in material usage, ergonomic hazards, and labor requirements.

· Improves manufacturing efficiency by actively searching for opportunities to improve data quality, delivery/presentation, and facility manufacturing practices.

· Establishes processes to share process improvements between business locations.

· Benchmarks key processes to facilitate best practices.

· Coordinates and develops communications to publish change results and share improvements amongst the various business locations.

· Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibility:
· Responsible for leading group activities with participants from all areas and titles across the company. A key leadership component will be to drive participation and commitment from non-direct reports throughout the business.


Education:
· Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field is required


Experience:
· Minimum five years of experience in a manufacturing production environment (if you have a Bachelor’s degree or higher referenced above), with increasing responsibilities. Seven years of experience if you do not have the above-referenced Bachelor’s degree (or higher).


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, for continuous interaction with all departments, employee levels, and external customers

· Proficient in using PC software, including engineering applications for analysis, design, CAD/CAM, and data programs. Proficiency with AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills.

· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong customer service orientation (both internal and external), and the ability to work independently.

· Experience reading and comprehending work specifications, work orders, blueprints, contracts, and technical publications.

· Demonstrated understanding and experience in Materials Requirement Planning Systems, and in deploying Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.

· Proven experience in effectively leading and managing diverse teams.

· Strong ability to facilitate process improvement events efficiently and effectively.

· Knowledgeable about working with carbon and stainless steels, aluminum, and other tough materials.

· Experience running continuous improvement projects that involve asset acquisition, revitalization, and return on investment justifications.

· Skilled in performing costing activities for capital justification, business case analysis, and general costing tasks.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively, while being responsive to last-minute, high-priority, time-sensitive projects.


Working Environment:

· Work will be performed in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate noise levels from production activity. Safety glasses provided for when in the shop. Hearing protection may be required. The selected candidate required to lift up to 20 pounds.
