Job description

Job Summary:
ACV Auctions is a technology company revolutionizing how dealers buy and sell cars online. They are seeking a hands-on product leader to own the product vision, roadmap, and delivery for ACV MAX, managing a team of product managers and driving strategic and tactical product development.
Responsibilities:
• Help shape the product vision, strategy, objectives & roadmap for ACV MAX
• Lead, coach, and grow a team of product managers. Establish and improve product operations and set a high bar for excellence
• Spend time with our dealer customers — single-rooftop stores, large dealer groups (including top-10 / publicly traded groups), and our industry partners to deeply understand their needs and pain points
• Own end-to-end execution and delivery: partner with engineering, design, and analytics to plan releases and ship on a fast cadence
• Drive AI-first product development: champion agentic coding tools across the product and engineering org, build and enhance AI-powered features within ACV MAX, and leverage cutting-edge tools and best practices to scale our teams
• Maintain comprehensive competitive analysis and understanding of the dealer software landscape. Know what tools dealers use today across their operations and drive a clear point of view on where ACV MAX fits and what we need to build next
• Own build / buy / partner decisions and continuously engage current and potential partners to expand the business or accelerate time to market
• Lead customer demos, RFP responses, and executive conversations with dealer group leadership; be someone a dealer group exec is comfortable texting directly
• Partner with marketing and account teams on product marketing and positioning
• Lead discussions with technology and executive leadership to inform, gain consensus, and problem-solve on cross-company initiatives across ACV
• Develop industry recognition and credibility as a thought leader in dealer software
• Be hands-on: read code when needed, analyze and validate product data, and rapidly prototype ideas
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• BS degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years' Product management experience, including leadership roles
• 5+ years' Automotive dealer B2B software industry experience
• Franchise dealer software industry experience. You have spent meaningful time at an automotive SaaS company serving franchise dealers and dealer groups of all sizes, and you have a deep understanding of how dealers operate day to day. The ideal candidate has been the lead product person working closely with corporate / leadership at large dealer groups (top-10 / public groups a strong plus).
• Technical fluency. You are technically proficient and have a deep understanding of how software works. Prior experience as a technical PM, software engineer, or in a relevant technical role is strongly preferred.
• AI fluency with agentic tooling. You have hands-on experience working with the latest agentic AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) in your current role and can walk through specific examples — projects shipped, prototypes built, etc.
• Mastery of end-to-end product delivery, including discovery, prioritization frameworks, user story creation, release planning, and execution.
• Strong customer focus, listening skills, and executive communication. Comfortable leading strategy sessions with dealer group executives and with ACV's leadership team.
Preferred:
• Experience in a nimble, product-led environment. You have grown small teams and/or business units within a larger organization.
• An existing network of contacts in the industry, both at large dealer groups and dealer software providers.
• Prior P&L or business-line ownership experience.
Company:
ACV is a high growth technology company that provides a vibrant digital marketplace for wholesale vehicle transactions and data services. Founded in 2014, the company is headquartered in Buffalo, USA, with a team of 1001-5000 employees. The company is currently Late Stage.
