SUMMARY

The positionย is responsible forย coordinatingย theย development and improvement of new foam products.ย ย Expectations are to lead andย participateย in experimentalย design, andย analysis, compilation, and presentation of data.ย This position isย alsoย responsible forย assistanceย with theย management of housekeeping, inventory, standards, and procedures for theย Development Laboratory, Process Laboratory, and Development Pour Line.ย ย 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESย ย ย 

  • Develop andย modifyย foamย formulations to meet customer and organization expectationsย 

  • Frequent interaction with production staffย 

  • Write andย updateย procedures, standards,ย and policiesย 

  • Helpย maintainย the Developmentย laboratories and work areasย 

HEALTH, SAFETY, AND THE ENVIRONMENTย 

  • Comply withย Woodbridge Health, Safety and Environmental policy, applicable laws,ย regulationsย and standards, in anyย workplace, regardless of locationย 

  • Continuously remind colleagues, students, and visitors of the need to persistentlyย comply withย Woodbridge Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Practicesย 

  • Ensure HS&E training requirements are met and up to dateย

TECHNICAL ROLEย 

  • Lead/participateย in experimentalย designย andย compilation,ย analysis,ย and presentation of dataย 

  • Execute experiments designed to meet theย objectivesย of Research and Development projectsย 

  • Ability to safely use/operateย a variety of lab instrumentsย such asย scales,ย mixers, die press,ย Zwick, K-F Titrator, Viscometer,ย FT-IR,ย etc. and other analytical devices with training.ย 

  • Priorย chemical laboratoryย experienceย isย required.ย ย Chemical safety and handling, including HMIS, training is mandatory.ย 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESย ย 

  • Direct supervisory responsibilities are limited. Examples includeย supervision of interns, supervision of line trials, orย covering forย vacations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEย ย 

Two-year degreeย orย related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.ย Previousย urethane experience is a plus.ย 

LANGUAGE SKILLSย ย 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.ย ย Ability toย writeย reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.ย ย Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.ย 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSย ย 

Ability to apply mathematical conceptsย andย operations toย developmentย tasks.ย 

COMPUTER SKILLSย ย 

Proficiencyย in Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new internal software systems.ย 

REASONING ABILITYย ย 

Ability to define problems, collect data,ย establishย facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.ย
