Job Summary

The Dining Room Server is responsible for performing various food service operations tasks such as serving food and beverages to guests in the clubhouse dining room, setting tables, bussing tables, running food, operating the point of sale system, ensuring member and department charges are accurate, handling cash and credit payments, accommodating guest requests, making menu suggestions and demonstrating menu knowledge, and ensuring guest happiness and satisfaction. The role ensures sanitization in compliance with proper food safety and organization standards and performs side work tasks related to the operation of the dining room. This role works as part of a team in the club food and beverage department and will need to work and communicate well with support staff, including hosts, food runners, bussers, managers, cooks, dishwashers, and bartenders. Dining room servers will be assigned to events from time to time if business needs dictate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares work area for daily operations by making sure the designated workstations are properly stocked and sanitized.
  • Achieves the high standards of quality, production, cooperation, and service set by the company for our employees, guests and customers.
  • Operates and cleans beverage dispensers, coffee brewers, and other foodservice and beverage equipment.
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with peers and leadership to complete team tasks, serve as back-up for other team members as assigned and minimize customer service issues.
  • Learns details for all food and beverage menus served in the clubhouse dining room at all service periods and is able to provide recommendation and substitution advice based on this knowledge.
  • Serves food to customers, ensuring presentation standards are upheld, appropriate garnishes and flatware accompany the proper dishes, and adherence to food safety standards is strictly maintained.
  • Responsibly serves alcoholic beverages to guests according to state law and company protocol, verifying age by checking valid identification when appropriate. 
  • Cleans food preparation areas, work surfaces, and dining areas. 
  • Monitors supply inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the dining room and server areas in compliance with all food safety and Hospitality standards of quality.
  • Greets customers courteously, answers questions professionally and accurately and escalates issues to leadership as necessary.
  • Operates cash registers or point of sale systems to process customer payments accurately. Counts and reconciles cash transactions at the end of shifts and ensures proper documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with other food service staff, such as cooks, bartenders, and supervisors, to ensure smooth operations and efficient customer service. Communicates effectively and assists team members as needed.
