About Offworld:

Offworld Industries Ltd. (Offworld) is the independent studio behind the successful military first-person shooter game, "Squad". Offworld was formed in 2014 by more than 15 developers who had worked together on the well-known Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. The founding purpose of the team was to bring a standalone successor of this acclaimed mod to market and build a game development studio and a livelihood from that foundation.


Fast forward to 2026, Offworld has over 150 employees and is rapidly growing. We have been expanding the studio into serving as a publisher supporting mods and have released our newest title, "Starship Troopers: Extermination", a 16-player PvE first-person shooter based on the 1997 cult-classic film.


We are built on passion, unified spirit and continuing efforts to break the mold. We strive to become a leader in creating large-scale multiplayer games as well as supplying others with the ability to do the same.


We are looking for a talented Senior UI Designer for our current and upcoming Unreal Engine based multiplayer games. If you are passionate about making great games and a team player, we are looking for you!


Job Duties:

  • Design and implement high-quality user interfaces for PC and console games, including HUDs, menus, and in-game screens, creating clear, readable layouts and visual designs consistent with the game's visual style.
  • Design and create UI art assets, including icons, visual indicators, and supporting UI graphics.
  • Apply UI designs in Unreal Engine, working closely with engineers to ensure accurate implementation and responsiveness.
  • Design and support UI animations and transitions (e.g. state changes, feedback, motion for clarity and polish).
  • Proficient with Figma and other design and prototyping tools, such as Photoshop, Miro, and Adobe XD. And can create prototypes to support early testing and rapid iteration.
  • Create and maintain a Figma UI art library for the game.
  • Create and share designs with Artists, Programmers, and Game Designers and then iterate on designs, ensuring critical feedback is addressed.
  • Support implementation of UI designs by providing ongoing design guidance to Programmers and Artists.
  • Produce high quality work quickly within strict deadlines and time constraints.
  • Be an advocate for the player's experience, ensuring that your designs contribute to an engaging player experience and meet the product's goals.


Requirements:

  • Have at least 2 years experience as a professional UI designer on PC or console games
  • Have a strong understanding of layout principles, usability, and best practices in interface design
  • Ability to create UI art assets, such as icons and visual elements, for in-game use
  • Experience working with or designing for UI animations and motion
  • Strong and effective communication skills across all levels and organizations
  • Strong time management and ability to work within deadlines
  • Able to discuss and explain design options to various audiences
  • Problem solver and customer-centered
  • Knowledge of range of products including Adobe Suite, Figma
  • Knowledge of usability factors in Human Computer Interaction
  • Versatile in working with and manipulating already-created art assets into polished, usable formats across the same wide range of marketing mediums\
  • Sync to file control and build the engine (with tech support)
  • Willing to learn the UMG workflow (if not already familiar)
  • Able to apply designs from Figma to UMG (no logic or programming skills required)


Desirable traits:

  • Experience developing UI artwork or prototypes
  • Able to create graphic design assets such as icons, fonts and style guides for game use
  • Familiarity with UMG in Unreal Engine
  • Organized and clean workflow, compatible with a collaborative environment
  • Self-motivated problem solver and solution-finder that removes roadblocks for their team
  • Able to adopt and champion the studio's values and initiatives

This is a 6-month fixed-term position,with the requirement to work from our office three days per week. There is the possibility of an extension or transition to a permanent role based on the needs of the business.

The typical salary range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000 CAD per year and is subject to change. The final agreed upon salary is based on work location and may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
