Description: The Team Lead provides day-to-day front-line leadership to operators, problem-solving direction and assistance, metrics reporting, and assist with the movement and prioritization of work in the cells while adhering to Viant Values and all safety and quality requirements.
Work Schedule: 7:00am to 3:30pm
Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Will help enforce safety requirements in the production area as well as identify safety related issues and report them up to the production supervisor or designee.
  • Quality:
    • Responsible for part and product quality on the production floor. May initiate and attend gate calls to resolve issues within the area. Check first piece inspections and occasionally check in-process parts to ensure part conformity before issues are discovered downstream.
    • Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices are understood, and compliance is present on each line. Also ensure all work instructions are understood and are being followed by the operators.
      • Production:
    • Collaborate with scheduling department to establish priorities and expedite the flow of product through production. This position will execute the production schedule to ensure hours and jobs are cleared on a weekly basis (100% schedule attainment) to ensure customer orders can ship on time.
    • The Team Lead may also run parts and machines as needed during periods of employee absence in critical areas of the plant or to cover breaks/lunches.
    • Communicates daily area objectives with associates, peers, support personnel, and management to meet production requirements and associate performance goals.
    • Mentor and coach operators.
    • Manage and communicate shift handovers and ensure seamless communication across shifts and departments.
    • Work with production supervisor to identify problem areas and help determine improvements.
    • Evaluate systems and processes and make recommendations regarding modifications.
    • Support lean manufacturing principles which include 6S, standard work, and GEMBA walks to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Works with production supervisor to coordinate personnel training and moves.
  • Other:
    • Deep understanding of the area's capacity and requirements.
    • Pulls jobs from the FIFO system efficiently.
    • Keep track of daily supplies and place supply orders when needed.
    • Must be able to fill out all required paperwork (1st pc Article, WIP, 100% Ready for ISN, and router)
    • Ability to use calipers and other measuring tools.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Education/Certification
  • Minimum High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience with progressive responsibilities. Experience in the medical device industry preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.

Skills/Competencies:
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with others.
  • A proven record of leading others to include training and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Ability to identify defects and read blueprints.
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous day-to-day activities of an administrative nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items.

Requires the ability to identify and distinguish colors, visual blemishes and visual nonconformances (e.g., visualize objects of multiple dimensions).
