From strategy to execution, this team delivers integrated, end-to-end support and advisory services covering valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, government operations modernization, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. Work alongside clients every step of the way, helping them navigate new challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and provide practical solutions at every stage of their journey-before, during, and after any major transformational projects or transactions.

Work You'll Do

We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our team. The Technical Utility SME will be responsible for providing a range of expertise as it relates to grid systems, grid components, and grid controls as well as provide technical subject matter knowledge related to energy storage systems as follows:

Applies subject expertise in evaluating business operations, processes, and technical issues

Consults across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge

Recommends technical solutions and identifies areas where technical solutions would improve business performance

Provides subject expertise and guidance to senior leadership

Reviews and ensures accurate representation of expertise prior to the distribution of technical reports

The Team

Deloitte's Government & Public Services (GPS) practice - our people, ideas, technology and outcomes - is designed for impact. Serving federal, state, & local government clients as well as public higher education institutions, our team of professionals brings fresh perspective to help clients anticipate disruption, reimagine the possible, and fulfill their mission promise.

Our Sustainability, Infrastructure, Real Estate, & Resilience offering advises clients on climate and disaster-related risks through comprehensive strategy, planning, and crisis management, while also providing expertise in capital investments, infrastructure projects, and real estate portfolio optimization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, geology, earth sciences, or other relevant engineering/science field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with electric power generation
  • 5+ years of power grid experience
  • Must be located in Washington, DC and able to work part-time onsite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel up to 25% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred

  • Comfortable working on a team, communicating with clients, preparing technical deliverables, and working efficiently across multiple workstreams.
  • Experience collaborating with junior staff to structure analyses, quality-check outputs, and deliver research and operational activities.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $151,500 to $252,500.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
