Job description

Finance Manager - Remote

About Thriveworks

Thriveworks is one of the leading mental healthcare companies in the U.S., with over 2,800 employees. Founded and led by clinicians, our mission is to help people live happy, healthy lives. As we continue to scale, we are building a best-in-class Finance function that partners closely with operations, clinical leadership, and growth teams to drive performance and expand access to care.

About the Role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to support strategic and operational decision-making across a rapidly growing healthcare services organization. This role will partner closely with executive leadership, clinical operations, and growth teams to drive financial performance, evaluate investments, and scale the business effectively.

The ideal candidate brings experience from investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or high-growth healthcare organizations, and is excited to apply rigorous financial analysis in a mission-driven environment. This role requires both analytical depth and business acumen, with the ability to independently structure ambiguous problems, build models, and deliver insights that influence key decisions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis across clinics, regions, and service lines.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate new clinic openings, provider hiring, service line expansion, and payer mix strategies.

  • Analyze clinic-level economics, including provider utilization, reimbursement rates, and patient volume trends.

  • Partner with Operations, Clinical Leadership, and Growth teams to provide data-driven recommendations that improve access, efficiency, and profitability.

  • Support strategic initiatives, including market expansion, M&A evaluation, and new service offerings.

  • Assist in developing long-range plans, annual budgets, and scenario analysis tied to growth and capacity planning.

Executive Decision Support & Financial Insights

  • Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights for executive leadership, highlighting key risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.

  • Drive ad hoc analyses for senior leadership, independently structuring ambiguous problems and delivering data-driven solutions.

  • Develop and enhance KPIs and dashboards focused on key healthcare metrics (e.g., utilization, revenue per visit, provider ramp).

  • Prepare executive-ready presentations and materials for senior leadership, Board meetings, lenders, and investors.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the scalability, efficiency, and accuracy of financial reporting and analysis.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial analysts by providing coaching, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.

  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture by establishing analytical best practices, reviewing work product, and ensuring high-quality, timely deliverables.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

  • 5-8 years of experience in analytical finance, with a preferred background in:

  • Investment Banking

  • Management Consulting

  • Private Equity

  • Healthcare FP&A or multi-site services

  • Strong experience in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and performance management

  • Ability to analyze large, multi-source datasets and translate findings into business insights.

  • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-location services strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel required

  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) preferred.

  • Familiarity with data processing tools (e.g., Alteryx) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of SQL and/or Python is a plus.

What We're Looking For

  • A strategic operator who understands how financial decisions impact patient access and clinical outcomes

  • Someone who can connect unit economics (provider, clinic, market) to overall company performance.

  • A self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment.

  • A collaborator who can effectively partner with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to sit at the intersection of finance, operations, and healthcare delivery, helping scale a mission-driven organization while improving access to care. You'll have direct exposure to leadership and the ability to shape strategic decisions in a high-growth environment.
