Overview

Now offering a $1,000 Paid Upon Completion of 90 Days of Employment.

As a Government Travel Advisor Specialist, you will serve as a dedicated travel counselor supporting U.S. military personnel and government travelers. This role requires deep expertise in government travel management, native Sabre GDS proficiency, and the composure to handle complex. time-sensitive itineraries for travelers operating under official orders. This is not an entry-level role - we are looking for experienced travel counselors who can perform independently from day one.

Your Responsibilities

As a Government Travel Advisor Specialist, you will serve as a dedicated travel counselor supporting U.S. military personnel and government travelers. Please see the Qualifications and Key Competencies sections for more details about what we are looking for in successful candidates.

  • Act as trusted advisor and consultant to a single or multiple corporate accounts. 
  • Act as the point of sale on all Domestic and International travel requirements, arranging both routine and complex travel for air, rail, car, and hotel accommodation, utilizing Sabre.
  • Fulfill requests for multi-faceted travelers while adhering to applicable requirements and process and procedures.
  • Provide consultative advice, solutions, and recommendations. Additionally, pro-actively selling additional service for our travelers (e.g., hotel and car), whilst ensuring adherence to the Customers agreed travel policy and requirements and adhering to quality assurance standards.
  • Complying with all legal standard requirements, which include mandatory training, compliance, and sanctions.
  • Deliver expectations on individual/shared team goals and support all business Key Performance Indicators.
  • Follow internal compliance and regulatory requirements for all Customers and locations supported.
  • Manage the end-to-end booking process through the ticketing and order fulfilment, either over the telephone, via messaging or via email or back-office systems and servicing platforms.
  • Operate in a telephony servicing environment where you are accountable to key performance indicators of success, such as Customer satisfaction (CSAT), key productivity metrics (for example call adherence and call service metrics), and driving key partnerships and sale of preferred air and hotel partners

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with Sabre native GDS required, with demonstrated proficiency in native commands - including PNR construction, fare pricing (WPNI/WP), ticketing, exchanges and reissues without reliance on Sabre automation or scripting tools. Candidates will be assessed on native Sabre proficiency during the screening process.
  • Minimum of 2 years' international booking experience, including complex multi-segment international itineraries, multi-carrier routings, and international fare construction. Experience with restricted government fares, City Pair Agreement (CPA) ticketing, or GSA contract fares strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills - role will require inbound, outbound (callbacks), and email.
  • Excellent telephone skills, including a professional demeanor portrayed to Customers demonstrated through ability to ask probing questions, ability to communicate with a sense of urgency.
  • The ability to communicate with clarity, urgency and professionalism - including during difficult calls - is non-negotiable
  • Fluency and comprehension in the language requirements for the specific point of sale (spoken and written), as verified by an GBT-approved formal test.
  • Accent neutral verbal/written communication skills as verified by an GBT-approved formal test if applicable.
  • Strong listening skills: active listening; able to appreciate the context of the government traveler's experience.
  • Written skills: excellent grammar; attention to detail demonstrated through follow-up to ensure resolution for the Customer.
  • Experience supporting U.S. government, federal agency, or Department of Defense travel accounts is strongly preferred. Relevant experience includes:
    • Familiarity with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and applicable DoD travel policy.
    • Experience with Defense Travel System (DTS) or knowledge of how DTS authorizations interface with TMC bookings.
    • Understanding of City Pair Agreement (CPA) fares and mandatory use requirements.
    • Experience managing travel modifications driven by orders changes, mission adjustments, or emergency re-routing.
    • Sensitivity to the operational context of military travelers, including urgency, confidentiality, and duty-of-care obligations.
  • Strong de-escalation and composure under pressure are essential. Advisors will frequently support military personnel managing time-sensitive changes, complex international itineraries, and situations with real operational consequences. 
  • All candidates will complete a Sabre native proficiency assessment prior to offer. Minimum passing score required. Candidates unable to demonstrate native command proficiency will not advance regardless of years of experience claimed.
