We are seeking a motivated and experienced Landscape Architect to join our growing team. This mid-level position offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of environmental and infrastructure projects, including stream restoration, wetland enhancement and creation, stormwater management systems, and transportation-related developments.
Key responsibilities include preparing planting and landscape designs, conducting field investigations and environmental assessments, evaluating mitigation opportunities, supporting watershed studies, monitoring restoration and mitigation sites, and developing technical plans and reports using GIS and AutoCAD/CADD software.
The ideal candidate will possess strong design and plan production experience, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and effective written and verbal communication skills. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program
- Licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA)Â (Maryland or immediate candidate for reciprocity in Maryland)
- 6+ years of experience in landscape architecture and in developing contract documents including plans, specifications and estimates, and project management
- Familiarity with the Maryland Forest Conservation Act and native/adaptive plant materials in the Northeastern region
- Familiar with Maryland Stormwater Management and Erosion & Sediment Control regulations
- Proficiency with GPS and GIS technologies to support technical field work
- Proficiency with CADD software (Microstation/AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading the preparation of reports, plans, specifications and estimates
- Experience working effectively both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience leading and contributing to landscape design from early concepts through construction
- Experience preparing permit packages and a working knowledge of Maryland permitting processesÂ
- Prepare graphics/renderings and public meeting presentations materials (SketchUp, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite Programs)
- Current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously raise design quality
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to mentor less experienced staff
