Job description

The Utilities Design Coordinator is committed to supporting client by assisting with the Utilities Design Management of the project.
LOCATION This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for assisting in the Utilities Design Management of the project.
2. Implements the Project Design Management Plan and all those plans related to the technical part of the same that are required by the contract with the Client.
3. Coordinates with Client and other third parties to resolve discipline-related technical issues to obtain final approval of the design.
4. Establishes, monitors, and maintains a realistic design schedule with deliverables necessary to satisfy contract, procurement, and construction requirements
5. Identifies, manages, and assists in the preparation of proposals for design alternatives that are beneficial for the project.
6. Manages all contracts related to the Design: Main Designer, Independent Design Reviewer (IDV) and Temporary Works related to the discipline.
7. Provides contractual support from a technical point of view to other project contracts: contracting support, technical interface with specialized subcontractors, technical disputes, etc.
8. Identifies technical risks and participates in the preparation of risk reports.
9. Participates in the review of the Project budget forecasts, providing the necessary technical part for its realization.
10. Establishes and implements the design management strategy and other technical procedures for the project.
11. Support in the execution stage (project assistance team to resolve nonconformities, RFI with designers and unexpected events during construction).
12. Collaborates within the technical department, as well as with other departments.
13. Advises/participates in the formalization of contracts with engineering companies.
14. Guarantees the correct transmission of design information to the entire project team.
15. Manages the technical claims of the project related to the discipline.

1. Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
2. Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
3. Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
4. Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
5. Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.
6. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime, as needed, to best serve the business operations.
QUALIFICATIONS At a minimum, the Utilities Design Coordinator must have a bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent field of study, along with 3+ years of engineering related experience with a focus on utilities OR a high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 7+ years of engineering related experience with a focus on utilities. A Louisiana Professional Engineer (PE) License as well as experience with design build contracts and working in a multi-cultural environment is preferred.
