JOB TITLE: Structures Sheet Metal Mechanic
LOCATION: Wichita, KS
PAY RATE: $55.00 – 56.00/hr

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Assembles, installs, seals, rigs, and inspects precision structural and system components using drawings, process specifications, and quality control requirements.

  • Functional tests and corrects fit, form, and function of assemblies and components.

  • Obtains required information from prints, charts, sketches, work instructions, documents, and verbal or electronic data.

  • Uses shop mathematics and precision measuring or test instruments to complete work and functional tests.

  • Utilizes tooling to assemble components into sub-assemblies or end items.

  • Verifies work meets engineering specifications and identifies discrepancies per applicable procedures.

  • Performs routine minor machine maintenance including filter replacement, bulb changes, and lubrication or coolant level maintenance.

  • Sets up and operates conventional or Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) and fastening equipment of less than simultaneous 3-axis movement.

  • Performs specialty skills including Assembly or Installation of Structures, Sealer, Sub Assembly, Doors, Integral Fuel Cell Sealing, Precision Bench Assembly, and Pressure and Vacuum testing.

  • Applies expertise in fuselage integration, multilayer layup, and 737 platform assembly.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • 11+ years of related experience (minimum 10 years considered).

  • 737 aircraft assembly or integration experience required.

  • Experience with fuselage integration for aircraft structures.

  • Experience with multilayer layup techniques for composite or metallic structures.

  • Ability to assemble, install, seal, rig, and inspect precision structural and system components.

  • Proficiency reading and interpreting prints, charts, sketches, and work instructions.

  • Ability to use shop mathematics and precision measuring or test instruments for functional testing.

  • Experience with conventional or CNC fastening equipment operation.

  • Skill in at least one specialty: Assembly/Installation of Structures, Sealer, Sub Assembly, Doors, Integral Fuel Cell Sealing, Precision Bench Assembly, or Pressure/Vacuum testing.
