Job description

JOB TITLE: Materials Test Technician
LOCATION: Orlando, FL
PAY RATE: $32.93/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

Qualifying Questions:

  • Are you a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) as defined under ITAR regulations?

  • Do you meet the educational and experience requirements for this role?

  • Can you commute to the job location or relocate if necessary?

Summary: 

  • Executes materials tests to ASTM standards and specifications including hardness, tack-free time, and viscosity.

  • Reads, understands, and executes to ASTM standards for materials testing.

  • Performs fabrication and assembly techniques including bonding, sanding, drilling, and material surface preparation.

  • Mixes, weighs, and handles chemicals for material preparation and testing.

  • Interprets engineering drawings for fabrication and test setup.

  • Uses Windows-based MS Office suite for communication, scheduling, data processing, and data transfer.

  • Applies composites manufacturing and layup techniques.

  • Evaluates aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts, and assemblies for research and development projects.

  • Develops new testing methods and standard processes for verification and evaluation tasks.

  • Reports test results to customers after review with supervisor or manager.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • 5 years of experience executing materials tests to ASTM standards and specifications including hardness, tack-free time, and viscosity.

  • 5 years of experience with fabrication and assembly techniques such as bonding, sanding, drilling, and material surface preparation.

  • 5 years of experience mixing, weighing, and handling chemicals.

  • 5 years of experience interpreting engineering drawings.

  • 5+ years of proficiency in Windows-based MS Office suite for communication, scheduling, data processing, and data transfer.

  • Familiarity with composites manufacturing and layup techniques.

  • Ability to develop new testing methods and standard processes.

  • Ability to execute multiple technical activities concurrently (desired).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and coordination.
