SUMMARY:

The Agency Logistics & Operations Manager is a dual-focus leadership role responsible for overseeing a dedicated fleet of owner-operators and managing a high-touch logistics account. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance the nuances of fleet management safety, compliance, and financial optimization, with the rigorous communication and documentation demands of a primary logistics client. You will serve as the central hub between drivers, Unigroup agents, home office, and the customer, ensuring operational excellence and long-term profitability for all stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fleet Management & Driver Relations

  • Fleet Oversight: Manage a current fleet of 8 owner operators, serving as their primary point of contact and advocate.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead recruiting efforts to grow the fleet and implement retention strategies to minimize turnover.
  • Financial Optimization: Plan loads to maximize driver miles and revenue; review weekly settlements and order paperwork to ensure accuracy.
  • Relationship Building: Invest in the financial success of each owner operator, fostering a culture of mutual respect and professional growth.
  • Resource Coordination: Assist with truck rentals and labor coordination to meet client needs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Safety First Culture: Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring: Actively monitor ELD (Electronic Logging Device) data to ensure HOS compliance.
  • Maintenance & Records: Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and ensure all driver qualification updates are current.

Logistics Account Management

  • Account Ownership: Act as the primary lead for a major logistics account, owning the relationship and ensuring high service levels.
  • Operational Execution: Plan and coordinate the full lifecycle of orders, including pickups, transportation, storage, and final delivery.
  • Data Integrity: Register and track all orders within the internal system with high attention to detail.
  • Communication: Manage heavy email volume and documentation requirements with speed and professional clarity.

Agency Support

  • Pricing & Inquiries: Assist Armstrong agents with spot pricing, service inquiries, and operational feasibility.
  • Problem Solving: Act as the lead troubleshooter for transit delays, equipment issues, or customer service challenges.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Proven experience in logistics operations, fleet management, or freight brokerage.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ELD platforms, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and standard office software.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, specifically the ability to manage high-volume email threads.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to optimize routes and schedules for financial efficiency.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a remote environment while maintaining high levels of accountability and team engagement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: Full-time, requiring availability to support a 24/7 industry when critical issues arise.
