The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is currently recruiting for multiple Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions to provide direct and indirect care to our residents. WVHK is a 24/7/365 long-term-care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled Wisconsin veterans and their spouses. The facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Come join our quality nursing team!
Sign-On Bonus of $3000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the position for one year. The first $1500 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1500 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.

Position Summary

LPNs are responsible for providing quality, routine, direct and indirect patient care for geriatric and/or disabled members of WVHK. Examples of duties performed include: making critical observations of members; performing personal cares, treatments, medication administration and documentation; gathering patient data (e.g., blood pressures, pulses, accu checks); participating in the management of indirect care and maintenance of assigned unit or building; and participating in activities which facilitate the development and achievement of unit, building, bureau and facility goals and objectives.

Salary Information
Starting pay is between $30.01 and $38.59 per hour, depending on years of professional experience, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Positions at 60% of full-time or greater are eligible for an attractive benefits package. Sign-on bonus of $3000 for eligible employees.
This position is in pay schedule-range 06-05. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
Hours/Shifts:
Full Time (40 hrs/week)
Part Time (less than 40 hrs/week)
Evening 2nd Shift (2pm- 10pm or similar hours)
Full-time and part-time positions require the availability to work varying hours and/or overtime shifts as assigned.
Job duties require the ability to move, reposition and transport patients, stand and/or walk up to 75% of a shift. Duties also include ability to provide assessments, sit, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
The required qualification is:
  • Have a current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state, or
  • be eligible for a licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state prior to hire.
In addition to the qualifications reviewed in the first step of the process, qualifications that will be reviewed in next steps are experience:
  • Providing basic nursing care*; and
  • Administering medications and basic treatments*; and
  • Working independently & collaboratively*; and
  • Using professional communication*; and
  • Using computers and applications*
  • Providing advanced practical nursing care; and/or
  • Performing nursing duties in a long-term care, geriatric, skilled nursing, or other relevant setting
