This position is responsible for carrying out the policies and procedures related to the Department post-adoption search requirements. This position is accountable for fulfilling responsibilities associated with the Department's partnership with the MN Department of Health, county, and tribal agencies, and licensed child-placing agencies to support persons affiliated with adoption and who are requesting records related to their adoption.

Responsibilities include:

  • Discharge the Commissioner's responsibility in managing adoptions records related to post adoption search.

  • Provide leadership and management in maintaining policies, procedures, resources, and communication as they relate to Post Adoption Searches.

  • Participate in assessment and evaluation efforts used to improve the quality of services and approach, to effectively meet the needs of consumers.

  • Perform other duties and assume other roles as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.

Two (2) years of professional experience working with programming impacting individuals and families.

Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following during the interview process:

  • Knowledge of State and Federal government issues and policies specifically related to adoption services

  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing; ability to respond openly to requests and concerns; experience translating technical information into plain language for a variety of audiences.

  • Building and maintaining collaborative, trust-based relationships with external partners such as counties, tribes, and other governmental or community organizations.

  • Experience with managing programs and managing changes within programs

*Bachelor's degree in social work, public policy, sociology or related field may substitute for one year of experience; Associate's degree may substitute for six months of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Accounting Principles

  • Excellent judgment in providing a high level of discretion and sensitivity to issues affecting variety communities.

  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
