Salary and Benefits
The salary range is $47,588 - $74,021 depending on education/experience plus a generous benefit plan.

About the Position
Springfield Public Schools is accepting applications for the position of Tempoary Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the 26/27 school year only.
The individual in this position will perform specialized support services as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN will assist with assigned nursing tasks and activities, promote student safety and well-being, support student participation in classroom programs, and maintain appropriate health documentation and records.
This specific LPN position will provide health services to an individual student with significant health, physical, and educational needs. The student will participate in a classroom setting supported by licensed special education staff. The LPN will carry out nursing tasks and activities delegated by the Registered Nurse and work collaboratively with school staff to support the student's health, safety and access to educational activities.

Essential Functions

• Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, implement nursing care according to established priorities and standards of nursing practice;
• Confer with Registered Nurse to plan and carry out day-to-day routines for children with health concerns;
• Assist with health related programs, including vision and dental health screenings, work with the Registered Nurse and public health personnel to contain the spread of communicable conditions;
• Contact parents/guardians to addres health concerns and obtain updates regarding students' health needs;
• Provide basic and emergency first-aid care at the school site when not involved in the care of a particular child. Assist the Registered Nurse with additional student care as needed;
• Obtain and document vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, when indicated, and report abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse;
• Administer emergency medications according to established protocols. Administer routine medications with written parent/guardian permission.
• Work with a health aide to maintain and update manual and computerized files and records of student health information, including immunization records, and updates regarding students' health concerns.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Follow through on assigned student health plans and maintain effective working relationships with the Registered Nurses, school secretaries, health aides, teachers and other school staff;
• Conduct focused assessments under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, recognize urgent health concerns, and promptly refer students to the Registered Nurse as appropriate;
• Demonstrate basic problem solving with effective verbal and written communication skills;
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions, policies and procedures;
• Promote and preserve students' autonomy, dignity and rights in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that recognizes and respects student diversity;
• Protect confidential student information and exercise appropriate judgment when sharing information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations;
• Demonstrate knowledge of the scope and limitations of the position and accept direction and supervision from the Registered Nurse;
• Ability to remain calm and maintain effective communication in stressful situations;
• Demonstrate self-direction and the ability to work independently while appropriately seeking guidance and supervision, and prioritize workload to provide efficient, quality support to staff and students.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
• Current and valid Oregon License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN);
• At least Six (6) months experience working in a hospital, community or home health clinical setting with patients/clients who have chronic health conditions or require technology-supported care, such as enteral feeding tubes tracheostomies, ventilators, insulin pumps or continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), seizue-monitoring devices, oxygen therapy or other specialized medical equipment;
• Valid state issued driver's license and insured vehicle available for use on the job;
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain certification within thirty (30) days of the start date.
