Who You'll Work With
The public sector is rapidly changing across Tennessee and Mississippi as governments and institutions transform their business and technology operating models. Slalom Nashville is seeking a leader at the Director level to partner with these governments and institutions across the States of Tennessee and Mississippi to successfully deliver these transformations. This role will also partner with Slalom Public and Social Impact industry leads, the industry selling and alliances teams, and our capability teams to bring holistic solutions to our clients. This role will be responsible for supporting the overall growth of our Market's public sector business through a combination of business development, oversight of accounts, delivery work and thought leadership/campaigns. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented, seasoned leader with a proven track record of scaling teams, offerings, and business in this industry.
The Client Partner (Director), Public and Social Impact is accountable for strategic account leadership, account growth, and delivery excellence across a portfolio of public sector clients. This role shifts the balance toward account strategy, go to market leadership, and team leadership, while maintaining selective involvement in delivery to ensure quality and alignment. This role acts as a market and culture ambassador, representing Slalom's values with clients and within the broader community.
What You'll Do
The Client Partner is responsible for overseeing the successful planning, development, and execution of contracts - from pursuit, contract initiation, and through closeout, providing oversight and governance to public sector projects through account leadership and establishment of best practices:
  • Pipeline Development and Growth: Accountability for industry growth through sales and delivery, including establishing our point of view and strategic approach to grow our state and local government, education, and nonprofit footprint, accounts and offerings. Responsible for the profitability of certain Slalom Atlanta public sector accounts, with growing revenue target expectations.
  • Proposal Development and Delivery: Crafting and coordinating strong public sector proposals - including responses to RFIs/RFPs - across industry and capability teams at Slalom. Where applicable, partnering with alliance partners / technology companies and small businesses and specialty partners to deliver such proposals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Foster relationships with contracting officials and influential stakeholders to expand relationships across the portfolio, develop Slalom brand awareness and help identify new business opportunities. Additionally, you will acquire knowledge of the client landscape and organizations in order to better serve our clients in an advisory capacity.
  • Performance & Quality Management: Oversee quality assurance of project delivery on target accounts and build a healthy team dynamic and client relationships. You will be responsible for monitoring engagements from a cost, schedule, performance, and risk perspective. You will create and maintain reporting mechanisms and channels to effectively track and communicate the overall success of the portfolio.
  • Risk Mitigation and Management: Managing engagement risk related to state and local government, education, and nonprofit projects, and related RFP go/no-go decisions on which opportunities we should pursue.
  • Contract/Compliance Management: Enable compliance with all contract requirements by building a team that surfaces and understands the details of contracts and the tasks and deliverables that are required across the portfolio.
  • Staffing Management: Grow our team to meet market needs and practice needs. You will help identify, staff, and oversee the team members needed to execute proposed solutions and meet contract requirements. This entails working with account/capability leads to understand the right capabilities and skillsets of each required team member and locating them internally at Slalom, or externally via recruiting/subcontracting channels. Once identified, facilitating the security clearance and onboarding of each team member and, finally, providing continued oversight and support of engagements throughout the contract period of performance.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for working with the industry leads to manage the portfolio's financials including budgets, forecasts, and invoicing. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the financial tools to track and communicate the financials. You will oversee the timely submission of client invoices to ensure prompt payment.
  • Team Management: You will be responsible for supporting engagement teams by removing blockers or obstacles and promoting team health. You will share feedback with People Leaders and capability leads on each team member's performance so that their work/contributions on engagements are clearly understood.
  • Internal Teaming: You will work with the industry leads to build and manage internal relationships that help contribute to the team's success. You build and develop relationship/partnership with both local market and global teams, aligning on sales pursuits, resource capacity, and capabilities.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven success growing and managing large, complex client accounts, preferably with state and local or higher education clients.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with experience leading complex pursuits, with demonstrable success in achieving/exceeding sales and revenue targets.
  • Accountable for achieving a 40% utilization target and $5M+ revenue target.
  • Experience in building relationships with CxOs and an ability to influence and advise senior executives and public sector officials, especially in the States of Tennessee and Mississippi.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a consulting environment.
  • Deep interest and understanding of the public sector, with a particular focus on state government environments in the States of Tennessee and Mississippi.
  • Established experience working with state government agencies.
  • Knowledge of government procurement processes, contracting vehicles, funding models, and technology-related initiatives.
  • Experience partnering with technology organizations, digital transformation initiatives, or consulting engagements serving public sector clients.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with sellers, delivery leaders, capability leaders, and client stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent business, financial, project management, and leadership experience, especially working in a fast-moving, multi-stakeholder, collaborative organization.
