Job description

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for maintenance activities in support of the maintenance and production goals for the mine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintenance Planner 

  • Follow and promote the mine Maintenance Work Management Process.
  • Work with team members to build and maintain accurate Plans / Work Scopes.
  • Develop and implement accurate resource-levelled schedules for all maintenance activities. 
  • Manage and update detailed maintenance plans, along with short- and long-term schedules for maintenance activities
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and operations to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and maintain the maintenance activity and report both Leading and Lagging Maintenance KPI’s and cost KPI’s. Develop additional reports as required.
  • Manage minor capital projects related to maintaining site infrastructure
  • Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance history to identify trends and recommend improvements
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and maintain currency of effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance procedures. 
  • Work with warehouse personnel to maintain spare parts inventory 
  • Manage procurement to support maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to maintenance plans, work orders, and equipment records.
  • Execute strategies for improving maintenance performance, including training, PM development, and the maintenance and development of computer-based maintenance management systems. 
  • Assist the Maintenance Foreman with budgeting for respective maintenance department. 
  • Monitor maintenance costs and identify and explain variances to the budget. 
  • Work with the Reliability Engineer to identify chronic and impending equipment issues.
  • Initiate formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on chronic or high business risk failures.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required. 
  • Check accuracy and provision of all relevant data flows, including shift reports, requests for materials, timecards, etc.
  • Manage all aspects of the IFS Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). 
  1. IFS Master Data and perform Master Data entry as needed. 
  2. Manage the suitability and relevance of the Maintenance Tactics (PM’s).
  3. Equipment asset tracking and documentation.
  4. Maintain and monitor the accuracy and integrity of the Maintenance Work Order System.
  5. Monitor the Maintenance team’s use of IFS and work with the team to resolve issues as they arise.


General:

  • Attends meetings as required, including training and department meetings.
  • Supervise contract and/or temporary hire employees as required.
  • Follows and understands MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOP and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities. Leads by example by adhering to rules and regulations and ensuring compliance to rules and regulations established by the company.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team. 
  • Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Conducts activities and work in an environmentally responsible manner. Is aware of procedures to minimize impacts to the environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a maintenance planning role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, utilities, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience in an underground mining environment preferred.
  • Prior experience setting up, using, and maintaining computerized maintenance management systems 
  • (CMMS) required. Experience with IFS preferred. 
  • Proven experience in maintenance planning or scheduling, specifically with electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical equipment, systems, and maintenance best practices.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical maintenance.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and data analysis tools.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
