Sigma Computing Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Engineer, you need a solid background in mathematics, problem-solving, and a relevant engineering degree or certification. Familiarity with industry-specific software like AutoCAD, MATLAB, or SolidWorks, as well as understanding of applicable standards and regulations, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication skills distinguish top performers in this field. These competencies are crucial for developing innovative solutions, ensuring project success, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

What are some common challenges engineers face when working on cross-functional teams?

Engineers often collaborate with professionals from diverse backgrounds such as product managers, designers, and marketers. One common challenge is effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical team members to ensure everyone is aligned on project goals and constraints. Balancing technical feasibility with business objectives can also require negotiation and adaptability. Successful engineers proactively seek feedback, clarify requirements, and contribute to a collaborative team culture to overcome these challenges.

What are engineers?

Engineers are professionals who apply scientific and mathematical principles to design, build, and maintain structures, machines, systems, and processes. They work in a wide range of fields such as civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and software engineering. Engineers solve real-world problems by developing innovative solutions that improve people's lives, enhance safety, and drive technological advancement. Their work often involves research, technical analysis, collaboration, and project management.

Job description

Job Summary:

A Senior Partner Engineer, Databricks Alliance, is the principal technical advisor and advocate for the Sigma-Databricks partnership, both internally at Sigma and externally with Databricks. This role requires a deep, current, and comprehensive understanding of both the Sigma and Databricks products and the differentiated value they deliver together to joint customers. The Senior Partner Engineer provides technical thought leadership and strategic guidance across the partnership lifecycle, including: enabling technical sales and solution development, managing high-priority technical engagements, driving enablement for field teams, and contributing to overall revenue growth and customer success.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Technical Alliance Leadership: Serve as the primary technical leader and advocate for the Sigma Computing/Databricks strategic alliance. Drive the mutual success of joint customers by ensuring seamless technical integration, optimal performance, and maximized utilization of the Databricks platform and Sigma.
  • Deepen and Expand Stakeholder Relationships: Cultivate and maintain robust technical relationships with key personnel at Databricks, including Product Management, Partner Leadership, Solution Engineering, and Sales teams, to ensure strategic alignment, drive co-innovation, and facilitate joint account mapping.
  • Joint Go-to-Market (GTM) Enablement and Execution: Proactively collaborate with Sigma's GTM teams to identify, qualify, and technically support strategic joint customer opportunities. Develop and champion compelling technical GTM solutions, reference architectures, and partner-facing enablement content (e.g., training, workshops, internal demos).
  • Platform Integration and Future-Proofing: Proactively identify and scope high-value joint product opportunities and facilitate the handoff to the Partner Architect team for deeper technical engagement and development.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME): Act as the internal authority on the Databricks platform, providing expert technical guidance and training to Sigma's Sales Engineering, Product, and Engineering teams on best practices for leveraging Databricks features in conjunction with Sigma. Own the creation and maintenance of technical resources for the field, including deep-dive enablement sessions (e.g., HOLs, workshops).
  • Content and Event Technical Leadership: Lead the technical creation of joint thought-leadership content, including webinars, blogs, solution briefs, demo vignettes, and presentations for major industry events (e.g., Data and AI Summit, Data and AI World Tours). Coordinate with Sigma's Marketing and Demo Engineering teams to ensure high-quality technical representation at all joint GTM activities.
  • Advanced Solution Development: Identify, design, and evangelize high-value, industry-specific technical solutions leveraging the combined capabilities of Sigma and Databricks, working with internal teams, Systems Integrator partners, and Databricks Industry Leads and Field CTOs to package these solutions for field consumption.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a highly technical customer-facing or partner-focused role, such as Technical Alliance Management, Solution Engineering, Product Management, or Technical Consulting.
  • Deep and current hands-on experience with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform is mandatory. Proven understanding of its core architecture, features, and ecosystem integrations.
  • Strong technical background in data analytics, data warehousing, business intelligence, and cloud data platforms.
  • Prior Data Engineering and Front-End Software Development experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with BI and Analytics platforms is required; experience with Sigma Computing is a plus.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial technical relationships with key stakeholders at major partner organizations (e.g., Product, Engineering, Partner Sales).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling business value for both technical and non-technical executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and can manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for partner and customer engagements, and company/industry events.
