  4. Provide mentoring, coaching, encouragement, and emotional support throughout the recovery process.
  5. Help participants identify personal strengths, overcome barriers to recovery, and develop healthy coping and life skills.
  6. Assist participants in accessing behavioral health services, primary healthcare, housing, education, employment, transportation, vocational services, and other community resources.
  7. Facilitate recovery support groups, wellness activities, life skills training, and recovery education workshops.
  8. Educate participants and families about recovery resources, mutual support groups, wellness planning, relapse prevention, and community supports.
  9. Collaborate with counselors, case managers, medical providers, family members, schools, and community partners to promote coordinated, recovery-oriented care.
  10. Conduct outreach and follow-up contacts with participants to encourage continued engagement in treatment and recovery services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current certification as a Certified Peer Specialist, Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist, or other recognized Texas peer support credential, or the ability to obtain certification within the timeframe required by the employer.
  • Lived experience with recovery from a mental health and/or substance use condition and a demonstrated commitment to recovery principles.
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing peer support, mentoring, advocacy, or recovery services preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Valid TX Driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation required.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks and other employment requirements.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care, trauma-informed practices, motivational approaches, and community resources.
