The Robinhood Wallet team’s mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain! We build secure, intuitive, and decentralized products that enable our users to custody and manage their digital assets. Our team works at the intersection of traditional finance and web3, driving progress in cryptocurrency and blockchain applications. As a Senior Software Engineer , you’ll build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You will develop reliable and secure solutions to deliver a high-quality trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will take lead responsibility for designing scalable architectures and maintaining high-quality codebases. You will collaborate closely with client engineers, security professionals, and external node providers to deliver high-quality, secure technical integrations. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers and raise our overall engineering standards through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands‑on technical leadership.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY office(s), with in‑person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet.

Develop product‑facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards.

Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction.

Collaborate closely with client teams, product managers, designers, and external vendors to deliver reliable technical solutions.

Mentor other engineers and raise the technical standards of the team through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands‑on leadership.

5+ years of experience in software development.

Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud‑native architectures.

Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.

Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.

Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering high‑quality, end‑to‑end products and raising team‑wide technical standards.

Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain‑related company.

Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$196,000 - $230,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$172,000 - $202,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$153,000 - $179,000 USD
