Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The Student Research Assistant will perform laboratory maintenance and data analyses associated with ecological monitoring for the Socio-Ecological Adaptation and Climate Resilience Lab at Chapman University.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining lab organization and cleanliness, including but not limited to fieldwork gear storage maintenance, chemical inventory maintenance, equipment scheduling, and regular data archiving.
- Leading aquarium maintenance and associated animal husbandry tasks.
- Leading lab processing of ecological monitoring samples, including but not limited to sediment sample preservation, microscopy and invertebrate identification, cataloging environmental data logger payloads, and transcribing field data sheets. The Student Research Assistant may also be expected to delegate some of these tasks and coordinate data management/entry with other undergraduate students.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
They must have adequate training in basic laboratory management skills, including but not limited to microscopy, aquarium maintenance, database maintenance, and field safety protocols. This position is estimated at a minimum of 5 hours/week up to 19 hours/week depending on needed tasks and funding availability.
