The Rescue Mission is seeking a Full Time Assistant Store Manager (ASM) at our Cortland Thrifty Shopper. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager (STM) execute store activities with an emphasis on maximizing sales, profitability and service through effective management and leadership. In this role, the ASM provides training, direction, and leadership to volunteers and sales associates while creating a positive, engaging shopping experience. Additionally, the ASM acts as a Manager in Charge and provides feedback to the STM regarding challenges and opportunities. As an action-oriented member of the Rescue Mission leadership team, the ASM engages, inspires, and instills a sense of energy and excitement that fosters pride in our purpose.
Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Filling in for the store manager when needed:
    • Supervising employees.
    • Assist, prioritize, and delegate tasks to staff.
    • Overseeing that the assignments are completed.
    • Assistance with managing labor expenses in line.
    • Processing all paperwork and reports
    • Managing employee relations.
    • Adhering to store opening and closing procedures.
  • Helps customers by providing information including:
    • Answering questions
    • Obtain merchandise requested by customers.
    • Sizing and pricing merchandise
    • Following store procedures and store operating policies;
    • Managing and communicating all customer concerns.
  • Helps promote store by keeping up the store appearance:
    • Cleaning and vacuuming as needed.
    • Stocking, rotating, and pulling merchandise.
    • Turning store over for seasonal changes.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • 3+ years retail experience and customer service AND 1-year of leadership experience required.
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, visually check color coded racks and sizing by number, bending and lifting, and some weekends and evenings will be required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge in inventory and display work, and experience with cash register is desired.
Pay:
$19 per hour
