Position Summary
Garnet Hotels is seeking a passionate, hands-on Food & Beverage Manager to lead daily Food & Beverage operations at our dual-brand Marriott property in Matteson, Illinois.
This position oversees Applebee’s, hotel breakfast service, banquet functions, lounge operations, and other Food & Beverage outlets. The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for delivering excellent guest experiences while maintaining Marriott, Applebee’s, and Garnet Hotels standards.
This is an operations-focused position. The successful candidate must spend approximately 80% of scheduled working time actively leading outlet operations, coaching associates, engaging with guests, and monitoring service execution.
Key Responsibilities
  •  Lead daily operations for Applebee’s, breakfast service, banquets, lounge service, and other Food & Beverage outlets.
  •  Maintain a visible leadership presence during peak meal and event periods.
  •  Ensure Marriott, Applebee’s, and Garnet Hotels standards are consistently followed.
  •  Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and provide ongoing coaching.
  •  Develop and conduct weekly service training for Food & Beverage associates.
  •  Recruit, train, coach, and develop supervisors and hourly associates.
  •  Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and satisfaction scores.
  •  Handle guest concerns and implement service-recovery plans.
  •  Prepare schedules and manage labor according to business needs.
  •  Assist with inventory, purchasing, receiving, and cost control.
  •  Monitor food and beverage quality, waste, and profitability.
  •  Support banquet functions and special events.
  •  Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, food-safety, and liquor regulations.
  •  Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
  •  Partner with hotel leadership to improve service and financial performance.
Qualifications
  •  Minimum five years of Food & Beverage management experience, preferably in a hotel or full-service restaurant.
  •  Strong knowledge of restaurant, banquet, bar, and hotel Food & Beverage operations.
  •  Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing teams.
  •  Experience with scheduling, labor management, inventory, purchasing, and cost control.

  •  Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  •  ServSafe Food Manager certification or ability to obtain it upon hire.
  •  BASSET certification or ability to obtain it upon hire.
  •  Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Benefits
  •  Marriott hotel travel discounts, subject to eligibility
  •  Career-development and advancement opportunities
  •  Supportive leadership team
  •  Collaborative and service-focused work environment
  •  Opportunity to help launch and develop a premier dual-brand property
